Make your pool party extra special by serving an adorable Veggie Pizza shaped like a fish. Kids will be excited to eat their vegetables when they see this fun summertime appetizer.

veggie pizza fish topped with veggie cream cheese, carrots, peppers, green onion, mozzarella cheese, and black olives.

If you are looking for a spectacular-looking appetizer to serve at a pool party or beach-themed event, make this adorably cute and tasty Veggie Pizza Fish.

The veggie pizza is made using a store-bought pizza crust that is cut into a fish shape. It's topped with veggie cream cheese and decorated with fresh vegetables.

This cute pizza will be a hit with adults and kids.

When you host a pool party be sure to serve some really fun food like a Veggie Pizza Fish and Fruit Pizza Watermelon. See the recipes at HungryHappenings.com

I served this fish-shaped veggie pizza along with delicious Mediterranean Grilled Vegetable Pizzas and Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Pizza Watermelon for dessert.

Everyone loved all of these fun pizzas and I had fun making them.

So, let's make a Veggie Pizza Fish.

    Ingredients

pizza crust - You can use a tube of fresh refrigerated pizza crust (I used Pillsbury Pizza dough) or homemade pizza dough. See my recipe for Roasted Veggie Pizza for a delicious pizza crust recipe.
veggie cream cheese - I went the easy route and use Philadelphia Veggie Cream Cheese.
colored carrots - You'll want orange, yellow, and purple carrots to give your fish a lot of vibrant colors.
    red and yellow peppers
fresh mozzarella cheese log - You'll need two slices to make the eyes.
    jumbo black olives

    Supplies

baking sheet lined with parchment paper
    knife or kitchen shears
mandoline or sharp knife to cut the carrots into thin slices
fish template - To make this decorated fish veggie pizza you can draw out any fish you like or print out my Veggie Pizza Fish Template.

    Instructions

Roll out the Pillsbury Pizza Crust onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet so that the fish template fits then bake until golden brown.

I used Pillsbury Pizza Dough, but you could also use Crescent Rolls or make your own homemade pizza dough.

Unroll the dough and make sure the fish template fits, then pop it in a 425° F oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Cutting out the fish-shaped pizza crust using the template as a guide and then spreading veggie cream cheese over top.

Let the crust cool a bit then set the template over top and cut out around it. Clean up the rough edges using kitchen shears.

Spread veggie cream cheese over the entire crust.

Slicing bright orange, light orange, and yellow orange carrots into thin slices using a mandoline and then arrange them on the fish-shaped pizza crust.

Use a toothpick to draw the detail lines in the cream cheese to use as a guide for the placement of your vegetables.

Slice the rainbow carrots really thin. I used a mandolin which worked great and was really quick.

To make the scales on the fish, start at the tail and place a bright orange carrot slice at the tip, then overlap part of that carrot slice with a light orange carrot slice then overlap that one with a yellow carrot slice. Continue making lines of carrots filling in the body area of the fish.

arrange more carrot slices on the pizza crust then cut peppers into slices and add them to crust to create the fish's fin.

When you get to the edge of the fish's face, cut the carrot slices so they curve around the edge.

Once you've created all the rows of scales, fill in the tail using purple carrots. The purple carrots have yellow centers which looks really cool on the fish.

Cut thin strips of red bell peppers and start arranging them on the fin areas.

Decorating a veggie pizza fish using slice carrots, red pepper strips, diced yellow peppers, mozzarella cheese, and black olives.

Use kitchen shears to cut off any pepper that overlaps the edge of the pizza.

Fill in the face with finely chopped yellow peppers.

To make the eyes, you can cut two ovals from a slice of white cheese or you can use cream cheese. If the cream cheese is cold and firm, cut it into ovals. If it's soft, then put it in a pastry bag and pipe two ovals onto the fish's face.

Cut one jumbo olive in half and set one half on each white oval to create eyes. Cut slivers of olive to create two eyebrows.

Cut a large spinach leaf along the stem or cut a green onion to create a smile.

Make sure the food at your pool party is just as fun as the entertainment. Your guests will flip over this brightly colored Veggie Pizza Fish from HungryHappenings.com.

Your Veggie Pizza Fish is now ready. Cover it and place it in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

    Substitutions

You can use any flavored cream cheese or even mix cream cheese with some dried ranch dressing mix.

Change up the colors of your fish by using different vegetables.

The eyes have it! He looks so happy to be at the pool party. Your photos, as always, show exactly how to lay him out and how to mark for the scales which is so helpful. Can't wait to see the other party recipes.

Look at those adorable eyes!!! He looks so happy to be at the party. Your photos, as always, show us exactly how to measure him out which is so helpful. PURPLE carrots??? Guess I need to hang out in the veggy dept more as they created the perfect tail.

Can't wait for the other pool party recipes. Meanwhile, I'll just smile at your little fishy. If you don't get kids to eat their veggies (cuz what you make with them is so cute) - no one can. His whimsical smile is precious.
