If you want to add colorful decorations to your cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and more you can simply use colored candy melts to make candy clay decorations.
Use Colored Candy Melts to make Candy Clay
Candy Melts and other confectionery coating brands are available in a rainbow of colors and they can easily be used in my modeling chocolate recipe.
The original modeling chocolate recipe was created using milk, dark, and white chocolate all of which have varying amounts of fat (cocoa butter). Candy Melts have a completely different kind of fat than pure chocolate but can be used in place of chocolate if you want vibrantly colored clay to work with to decorate your treats.
You can break down the modeling chocolate recipe which is written for 16 ounces of chocolate and use smaller amounts if you'd like to use a 10 or 12 ounce bag of Candy Melts.
If you use a 10 ounce bag of colored candy melts start by adding 3 ½ tablespoons of corn syrup to the melted candy, then add more if needed. Start with ¼ cup of corn syrup if using a 12 ounce bag of Candy Melts.
Note: Some of the colored candy melts will be a little thicker when melted, so just adjust the amount of corn syrup you use.
It works the same no matter what color you choose.
