Stay inside where it's warm and enjoy these Snowball Cupcakes this winter. These treats are so easy to make using modeling chocolate and they taste great too.
If you are looking for a fun winter cupcake that is easy to make, you've come to the right place.
The decorations on top of these snowball fight cupcakes couldn't be easier to make. You just scoop and roll frozen frosting into snowballs.
How easy is that?
If you prefer, you can make white modeling chocolate and roll it into small snowballs. Both cupcakes look super cute and are easy to make.
I wrapped my cupcakes in a custom-designed snowball fight cupcake wrapper. I've shared a template for the wrapper so you can print them out for your cupcakes too.
Snowball Fight Cupcakes
Ingredients
cupcakes
white frosting
Snowballs: frozen white frosting or white modeling chocolate
Alternate snowballs: white malt balls, yogurt or white chocolate-covered pretzel balls, or yogurt-covered fruit
Supplies
download the Snowball Fight Cupcake Wrapper, here - Print it out on white cardstock.
Instructions
Download the cupcake wrappers. Print them out on white card stock. Then cut them out.
Frost your cupcakes with a very thin layer of white frosting. Wrap each cupcake with a snowball fight wrapper taping the ends to secure them.
Frosting snowballs.
If using frosting snowballs, spread frosting in a thin layer in a bowl and set it in the freezer for about 30 minutes until it is stiff enough to roll.
Scoop out small amounts of the frosting, roll it into balls, and place it on top of a cupcake. Continue until you have a nice pile of snowballs on top of each cupcake.
Note: You will need to wipe your hands clean after each ball you roll. I wet a few paper towels, bunched them up, and used them to wipe off my hands in between each. The slight amount of water on my hands helped to keep the frosting snowballs smooth.
If using white modeling chocolate, pinch off small pieces, roll them into snowballs, and arrange them on top of a frosted cupcake.
If using any of the alternate snowballs, just pile them up on the cupcake. You can use a small amount of frosting to hold the candy in place at the top of the pile, if necessary.
Update: I let one of these frosting snowball cupcakes sit at room temperature over night and in the morning the snowballs looked great. I ate it, enjoyed it, and have to say that of all the possible methods to make these, I think this is the best.

Super cute! We have had hardly any snow this Winter. It's really pretty strange, but I'm not complaining!

When I saw the picture, I thought the wrapper was around a bowl of cupcakes - that the snowballs were cupcake-sized cake balls. Now I am trying to plot a way to do that - lol

I think it would be fun to make a big version of this with cake balls for snowballs. There are so many ways to use this idea that would work great. If you come up with something, be sure to share it! I'd love to see pictures.

That is so adorable! I think I may be too lazy to do all that rolling, so I might do marshmallows and sprinkle them with sugar sprinkles or glitter.

Yep it was a bit of rolling, but I only made 4 cupcakes, just enough to take my pictures. I think the sparkling marshmallows would work great.
