    Hard Candy Snowflakes

Turn store bought hard candies into beautiful Hard Candy Snowflakes to serve this winter. These pretty Christmas treats will be a nice addition to cookie platters or a simple candy dish.
This post and giveaway are sponsored by Wilton.

Turn store bought hard candy into beautiful snowflakes. It's easy to do. See the tutorial at HungryHappenings.com.

For the past 5 years, I've been creating fun food crafts to share here at Hungry Happenings and never in all that time have I made something using just one ingredient, until now.

All you need to make these pretty snowflakes is store bought hard candies.

You can make them all white or blue or even clear using one kind of candy.

It's easy to turn Turn store bought hard candy into beautiful snowflakes. See the tutorial at HungryHappenings.com.

Or, you can create beautiful multi-colored snowflakes using a variety of candies or multi-colored candies.

I love the blue and white snowflakes. Each one is unique.

The idea for these mosaic style candies came to me after I created an Edible Candy Serving Plate for Tablespoon.com.

Snowflake Candy Dish made by melting hard candies.

The layers of blue and white candy look gorgeous together.

The day I was creating this candy plate I received a box full of goodies from Wilton. It's so much fun seeing all their new products and one that particularly caught my attention was the mold used to create these snowflakes.

The Wilton Snowflakes Silicone Mold has eight incredibly detailed snowflake shaped cavities.

Melt hard candies in snowflake silicone molds to make simple Christmas treats.

Being I had extra blue and white candies on hand I couldn't wait to try it out.

I crushed some candy, filled the mold, and popped it in the oven. In about 8 minutes, the candy was melted. Once cooled, I popped them out to find intricately designed hard candy snowflakes.

Use a Wilton Stack-n-Melt Silicone Snowflake Mold to create beautiful hard candy snowflakes. See how easy they are to make at HungryHappenings.com

The were so easy to make. Almost too easy considering how great they look.

I know I get a bit carried away with some of my food crafts. I like to create really detailed projects, but it was nice for a change to make something so incredibly simple and I know you appreciate that too.

These Christmas treats have inspired me.

As a brand ambassador for Wilton, I am compensated and receive free products to use to create projects to share with you here.

Melt blue and white hard candy to make these pretty snowflake candies. See how at HungryHappenings.com

    HARD CANDY SNOWFLAKES

    Ingredients:

hard candy (blue, white, clear, and/or purple)

    Supplies Needed:

    meat mallet, hammer, or pan
    Wilton Silicone Snowflake Mold

    Instructions:

Melt hard candies in snowflake silicone molds to make simple Christmas treats.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Unwrap hard candies and crush them either by placing in a zip top bag and smashing with a meat mallet, hammer, or pan or by using a food processor.

Fill each snowflake cavity completely with crushed candies. (If you don't fill them completely, the candy will be too thin and will break when un-molded.)

Layer white and blue crushed hard candy into a silicone mold to create beautiful hard candy snowflakes.

For a really pretty effect, layer or mix the colors.

Set the filled mold on a baking sheet and place in the oven.

Allow the candy to melt. This will take between 7 and 12 minutes. Keep an eye on the candy at 7 minutes to see if it's melted. If left too long, the candy will brown.

Remove from oven, allow the candy to cool, then remove from the mold.

The new silicone snowflake molds can be found at craft stores and on amazon.com. (commission earned for sales)

Those snowflakes are lovely! Would the same silicone molds work for tempered chocolate and candy melts too? Would it work if I put a layer of one color of chocolate first, allowed it to set, then put a layer of a different color chocolate? (I'm sorry if these are silly questions. I'm very new to working with chocolate and candy.)

      Thanks!

There are no silly questions! I'm always happy to help a new candy maker. Be sure to check out my Chocolate Making Tips page (https://hungryhappenings.com/chocolate-making-tips/) for lots of great chocolate making information.

These molds would absolutely work with chocolates of any kind. They are designed to go in the microwave with Candy Melts in the snowflakes. Layering them would look really nice. Have fun in the kitchen:)
