Everyone loves Rice Krispies Treats, so why not make them into a festive Easter basket candy! These adorable Rice Krispies Treat Lamb Pops might be too cute to eat, but once you take one bite you wont be able to stop!

Are you like me? You buy something thinking you'll find the perfect use for it, then it sits on your shelves for months and even years.

My container of marshmallow bits has been in my kitchen for over a year. I've sat and stared at it, trying to find inspiration, wanting to make the perfect edible craft with the crunchy little marshmallows. I finally found a reason to pop open the canister to make these adorably silly Rice Krispies Treat Lamb Pops.

I mentioned the other day I was creating some fun Rice Krispies treats to go in my friend's Easter baskets and these little lambs will be seeking pasture along with my Cococa Krispies Easter Bunny Treats. I think they will be very happy sharing some Easter grass together.

I think these would be a great project to do with the kids. I kept them really simple using Candy Melts, pink confetti sprinkles, candy eyes, and marshmallow bits. You will need a small tear drop metal cutter to cut out the ears. If you don't want to purchase one, then you could just use large chocolate chips for the ears instead.

    Rice Krispies Treat Lamb Pops

    Ingredients:

18 black confectionery coating wafers (Candy Melts)
    12 candy eyes
    18 pink confetti sprinkles
    6 Rice Krispies Treats
10-12 ounces melted white confectionery coating (Candy Melts)*
1 (3 ounce) canister of Jet-Puffed Mallow Bits (tiny marshmallows)
lollipop sticks (I covered mine with purple polka dot straws) or craft sticks

*If you aren't experienced with melting and working with confectionery coating/Candy Melts, you will find detailed instructions on my Chocolate Making Tips page.

For a step-by-step instructions on dipping Rice Krispies Treat Pops in the melted candy coating, see my Snowman Rice Krispies Treat Pops post.

    Instructions:

If you are looking to use homemade Rice Krispie Treats,  head on over to my new website, HowToMakeRiceKrispies.com. You can also check out how we taste tested 20 versions of the Rice Krispie Treat recipe to come up with the absolute BEST Rice Krispie Treat Recipe.

Follow the recipe attached above and then cut them into rectangles, similar to store bought Rice Krispie Treats. Now use your delicious homemade treats in the steps below:

If your black candy wafers are scratched, rub them with your fingers to remove the white marks.

Using a tiny dab of melted candy coating attach 2 candy eyes and one pink confetti sprinkle to each of 6 black wafers to make the lambs' heads.

Use a small tear drop cutter to cut out ears from the remaining 12 black wafers. I found that I could just press the cutter into the candy wafer and it cut beautifully. Attach a pink confetti sprinkle to each ear with a dab of melted candy coating.

Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the candy coating and insert it into a straw. The candy coating will keep the straw and stick together. Then dip the tip of the stick/straw into the melted candy coating and insert that end into a Rice Krispies Treat.

Dip the Rice Krispies Treat in the white candy coating, allow the excess candy to drip off. Attach the lambs head to the treat, about an inch from the top.

Immediately sprinkle mallow bits over the entire pop, pressing them in as needed. Attach an ear on either side of the rice krispies treat, keeping them in line with the lamb's head.

Pop your lollipops in the freezer for five minutes.

Store in an airtight container until you are ready to put them in your Easter baskets. To keep them fresh longer while in the basket, wrap them in a clear cellophane bag and tie with a ribbon.

These were really quite easy to make, and the best part is you don't have to worry about how nice they look once dipped because they get covered in marshmallows.
