Cupcakes made with other candy
When I needed a darker candy for an animal, I chose to use Peppermint Patties. I like the shape and size of the candies but Dark Chocolate Reese's Cups would work as well.
If you are looking to make a color other than white, black, or brown, you can dip OREO Cookies in colored candy melts to make the heads for your cupcakes. Or, you can simply make the animal using modeling chocolate.
