Hear the roars and cheers from your guests when you present these Academy Award Cookies. There’s no doubt that they will give you a standing ovation when they bite into a star-studded treat.
My cookies always have more fun than me.
Either you love it or hate it…the Academy Awards. Hi! It’s Kim, The Partiologist, hoping you love the Academy Awards or at least watch to see what they’re wearing. Or perhaps you’re having a party? In any case, I wanted to make cookies worthy of an Oscar.
If you can’t find an Oscar shaped cookie cutter, a mummy shaped cutter would work as well.
The other two cutters used were a round and a square.
Roll and bake your sugar cookies.
Cut out a square shaped cookie.
Before baking, cut a slice across the top, almost to the edge.
Open the slice up, making it into a clapboard shaped cookie.
Mix up a batch of white royal icing.
Add Wilton Buttercup Yellow food color.
Flood the top part of the Oscar shaped cookie.
Use a gold sheen airbrush color and airbrush machine.
(If you don’t have a machine, gold lustre sprays like Wilton’s Gold Color Mist will work too.)
As soon as you are finished spraying the cookie with gold sheen, sprinkle with EDIBLE disco dust.
I use the little shaker so I can control the amount of edible disco dust applied to the cookie.
Use black royal icing to the bottom of the Oscar statue cookie.
Outline and flood.
Flood the round cookie with grey royal icing.
Spray this cookie with a silver sheen airbrush color. (Or silver metallic spray)
Use a small round cookie cutter to cut circles out of black fondant.
Place the round fondant pieces to each round silver cookie, making the movie reel.
Use a rolling mincer to cut long strips of white fondant.
Cut a piece of black fondant in a square and also cut a slice across the top, almost to the edge.
Add the black fondant to the cookie and add tiny pieces of the white fondant strips.
Cut and bake a rectangular shaped cookie.
Cover with a black piece of fondant (or black royal icing).
Use a round decorating tip to cut tiny round circles.
Add white fondant squares and the tiny round fondant circles to make the film strip.
Start with a grey cookie, spray with black and immediately sprinkle with white edible disco dust.
To make the Hollywood Star, sprinkle a piece of red fondant with edible gold disco dust.
Cut a five point start out of red fondant and place on the sparkly black cookie.
