How cute are these Peanut Butter Bunny Butt Pretzels?
Each bite sized Easter treat is salty and sweet and so much fun to eat.
Do you melt every time to see the fluffy tail on a wiggly little bunny butt?
I sure do.
I love rabbits and just can't help squealing with delight, like a little girl, whenever I see a bunny in our back yard. A few years ago I found a hutch of baby bunnies in my strawberry garden and was overly excited every morning to go out and visit them. They were so tiny and utterly adorable.
When Easter rolls around every year, I find myself compelled to turn cute bunny butts into treats.
I know calling these Easter treats "Bunny Butt Pretzels" might not conjure up the most appetizing thoughts, but when you look at the peanut butter bunny bum burrowing down into a pretzel ring hole with it's fuzzy white marshmallow tail and two tiny paws with heart shaped sprinkle pads and pink sugar pearl toes, you are going to want to gobble them up.
Maybe I should have called them "Backside Bunny Pretzels" or "Pretzel Bunny Tails." What do you think?
UPDATE: Due to the popularity of these Peanut Butter Bunny Butt Pretzels, I created some more cute Pretzel Bunny Butts using white chocolate and a traditional mini pretzel twist.
They are pretty cute too!
I even share a video tutorial to show you how to make lots of these cute bunny butt treats at home.
I chose to use peanut butter candy melts to make my bunnies because the tan color is light enough to show up against the brown pretzel and dark enough that the white bunny tail really pops.
Candy Melts will melt nicely, but you can also melt Reese's Peanut Butter Chips to make these Bunny Butt Pretzels. The chips can be found in your grocery store. They tend to be a little thick, though, so you may need to add a bit of paramount crystals, coconut oil, or vegetable oil to thin them out.
I used a Squeeze-it Mold painter (small squeeze bottle) to fill the pretzel rings with the peanut butter candy melts. I love using these bottles because they have a pastry tip attached which you can swap out for any size tip, plus they are easy to hold.
If you prefer you can just spoon the candy into the pretzel or use a zip top or disposable pastry bag.
Before you pour the candy into the squeeze bottle, you need to make some tiny bunny feet.
I found it easiest to just use a food use only paint brush to paint a tiny foot onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Immediately, press one pink heart sprinkle and three pink sugar pearls onto the peanut butter candy to create a bunny paw. I used a pair of tweezers, that are only used in my kitchen, to add the sprinkles in the right place on the foot.
Those bunny paws with pink pads and toes look so adorable, but I will admit they were a bit tedious to make, so you can allow the candy to harden then simply draw the details on with a black food coloring marker if you are short on time or patience. Or you can pipe pink candy melts to create the toes and pad on each of the bunny's paws.
Once you have your tray filled with bunny feet, pop it in the freezer for a few minutes until the candy sets hard. Then remove and peel the candy feet off the paper.
Before you fill your pretzels, you need to have everything ready to be attached to them.
Take miniature marshmallows and roll them in the palm of your hands to make the bunny tails. This will give you round tails with some texture. Be sure to thoroughly wash your hands or wear food handling gloves!
Arrange the pretzel rings on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Now, you are ready.
Pipe a mound of peanut butter candy coating into the center of each pretzel. Add just enough that it doesn't overflow, but that is a bit rounded on top.
Immediately attach a tail and two feet.
Repeat, creating as many bunny butt pretzels as you'd like then pop them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes until the candy sets.
Remove and peel off the paper and your Bunny Butt Pretzels are ready for your candy dishes or Easter baskets.
Bunny Butt Pretzels
If you want to create a cute display to serve them at your Easter dinner, you can cover a serving platter with green coconut grass, toss on some cookie crumb dirt, and place your Easter bunny pretzels all over the tray.
To color the coconut, pour it into a zip-top bag, squeeze in some drops of liquid food coloring and shake until all the coconut is colored green.
It looks like your backyard with dozens of bunnies burrowing into their holes.
You could also use green Easter grass. These little treats will look so cute in your Easter baskets too.

If you can't find peanut butter candy melts, you can use caramel candy melts or you can blend some light cocoa candy melts with white candy melts to get a nice light tan color.

I made the bunny butts tonight and they are adorable. I couldn’t find peanut butter candy melts so I used salted caramel and they are YUM!!! It took several hours but they are worth it.
Beth
Yay! I'm so happy to hear they turned out so well. The salted caramel candy melts are great and I'm sure they taste amazing with the pretzels. Have a wonderful Easter! 🙂

These are so cute I can hardly stand it!! You could do an entire book on pretzel treats only!
Beth
That is a good idea!
Lisa
Thank you for sharing this cute idea, Beth. Can you tell me where you find pretzel rings?
Beth
I found a big tub of Wege of Hanover Pretzel O's at Kroger. You can also order them from Amazon.com if you can't find them locally. Here's a link - http://amzn.to/1QMmYpA.
There are several other brands that make pretzel rings that you might find at your local store, like Snyder's of Hanover, Utz, Old Dutch, and Rold Gold. I do hope you are able to find them so you can make these cute bunny butt pretzels. 🙂
Gina
Hi there.. These Bunny Bums are adorable!! I would love them & am going to make them with the peanut butter melts.. However, do have any suggestions for how or what I can use to substitute the melts for non-peanut butter ingredient? I'm thinking they would be great for school party however, everything must be "nut" & peanut butter FREE!! I'm open to suggestions 🙂 thanks so much
Beth
I used the peanut butter candy melts because I wanted a color that would contrast with the pretzel and the white marshmallow tail. You could blend light cocoa candy melts and white cocoa candy melts to get a light brown color. You could also use butterscotch confectionery coating or butterscotch chips. The color would be a bit more golden so mix in some light cocoa candy melts to make it more brown. Have fun! I hope the kids love them.
