Kids and grownups alike will fall in love with these pretzel dogs. Each hot dog is wrapped in a pretzel that is rolled in crispy fried jalapeños or crispy fried onions. This fun twist on pigs-in-a-blanket will make a great game-day appetizer.

pretzel dogs served on a football themed tablescape.

If you are gearing up for the big game and are planning to host a tailgating or big game party, then you should definitely plan to add these pretzel dogs to your game-day menu.

These pretzel-wrapped hot dogs are quick and easy to make using store-bought pizza dough, crispy fried Jalapeño or fried onions, and your favorite hot dogs.

You'll dip the pizza dough-wrapped hot dogs in a baking soda bath before baking them to give the dough a bakery-fresh pretzel flavor like my Football-Shaped Soft Pretzels.

Then, you'll roll the pretzel dogs in crushed fried jalapeños to give them a spicy flavor and crispy texture. You can use fried onions if you prefer a milder-tasting pretzel dog.

Pretzel Hot Dogs with Crispy Jalapenos for the big game!

I arranged the pretzel dogs coming out of football field paper bowls which were sturdy enough to keep the hot dogs upright so they were the star of the show at my game day party.

Have fun making them for your football party guests.

    Ingredients

a tube of pizza dough - Or you can make homemade pizza dough.
hot dogs - Use your favorite hot dogs.
crispy fried Jalapeños or crispy fried onions

    Supplies

a stock pot - To boil your hot dogs.
    cutting board
    pizza cutter or knife
    non-stick baking pan
shallow dishes - Use these to dip your hot dogs into a baking soda bath and then into the crushed fried onions.

How to make jalapeno pretzel dogs using pizza dough.

To make these spicy jalapeño pretzel dogs:

    • Boil your hot dogs for 3 minutes.
    • Meanwhile, cut ½-inch wide strips of pizza dough.
    • Remove hot dogs and pat them dry.
    • Wrap a piece of dough around the hot dog.
    • Stir 3 tablespoons of baking soda into 1 cup of hot dog water.
    • Dip each dough-wrapped hot dog in the water then roll in crushed-up French's Crispy Jalapeños.
    • Bake for about 10 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until golden brown.
Serve French's Jalapeno Pretzel Dogs for your tailgating or homegating party.
