This 4th of July Rice Krispie Treat Bowl is the perfect centerpiece for all of your tasty treats! This simple snack is 100% edible and so enjoyable to eat.
My obsession with edible bowls continues. This time I made a 4th of July Rice Krispie Treat Bowl and filled it with Red, White and Blue Rice Krispie Treat Stars.
I served it last week at a movie night that we hosted and the kids loved the stars but couldn't wait to break into the bowl. They thought it was so cool to be able to eat a bowl.
I thought this would be a pretty easy edible bowl to make and I was hoping it would be something that could be served at an outdoor picnic on a hot summer day, but found that a traditional rice krispie treat and even one with melted white chocolate chips added was not structurally sound. Both bowls cracked once the stars were added inside the bowl.
To combat this problem I brushed a layer of melted chips on the inside of the bowl, which hardened and kept the bowl intact but sadly would melt if left outside in temperatures much higher than 75 degrees. So, if you are lucky enough to live where it's cool and lovely on the 4th of July, then by all means, put this dessert outside. If not, then you'll have to keep it in the house.
This bowl, like my Chocolate Chip Cookie Serving Bowl and my White Chocolate Popcorn Bowl can be decorated for just about any holiday or occasion just by changing what's inside the bowl. Today, I'll share the tutorial for making the rice krispie treat bowl and in a few days I'll show you how to make the red, white and blue rice krispies treat stars. So, stay tuned.

Line a large bowl with non-stick tin foil.
Combine the butter, marshmallows and 6 ounces (1 cup) of the white chips in a microwave safe bowl. Heat on high power for 1 minute. Stir. Return to microwave and heat for 30 seconds, then stir. If the marshmallows and chocolate aren't melted, return to microwave and heat for 15 second increments, stirring after each, until melted.
Note: you can also melt it in a saucepan set over low heat on the stove.
Stir the sprinkles into the the cereal and pour it into the marshmallow mixture. Stir well to coat all the cereal.
Spoon the rice krispie treat into the tin foil lined bowl. Press it into the bowl making your cereal treat bowl about an inch and a half thick.
This stuff is sticky, so I suggest you either butter your hands well, or put on a pair of food handling gloves and butter those well before smashing the cereal treat mixture into the bowl.
Melt the remaining white chips and brush them on the inside of the rice krispie treat bowl. Freeze for 10 minutes.
Let the cereal treat harden for at least 30 minutes, then lift if out of the bowl and peel off the foil.
Check back in a few days to see how I made the Red, White and Blue Rice Krispies Treat Stars that I used to fill my bowl.

First, I would like to thank you for the wonderful recipes.I did have to make changes to some because my little 6 year old granddaughter is a diabetic and also has celiac but I have been pretty good at it so far.
Next are these bowls good at transporting and how?
And last how do I print these recipes JUST THE RECIPES.
Thank you so much for all the time that you put into all your recipes.I like so many people just love what you do.
Keep up the good work,'We all love you.

I'm happy to hear you have enjoyed my recipes and appreciate the my creations. I love sharing my ideas and am thrilled to know you are inspired by my work.
If you are going to transport the bowl, I would wrap it in plastic wrap and then snuggle it down into a box to keep it from moving around too much. If you need to make sure it's really sturdy, just brush more chocolate on the inside. When I transport them, I actually put the bowl into a large plastic bag and lower them into a large 6 gallon popcorn tin. It works great, but a box will work fine too.
As far as printing the recipes, sadly, I was blogging on Blogger for the first several years, and didn't use a recipe form that is easily printable. My newer recipes are printable. I am slowly trying to update the older recipes, adding the printable recipe forms, but I have over 800 posts to get through. The easiest way to print out a recipe, is to copy and paste the instructions you need, into a word document, then print that out. Sorry for the trouble!
Have fun making your bowl and be sure to snap some pictures and send them so I can share them in the readers' gallery. 🙂
