Celebrate the 4th of July with a refreshing frozen dessert. This festive red, white, and blue ice cream star is easy to make using just 3 ingredients. It's the perfect dessert for a hot summer's day.

red, white, and blue ice cream star for 4th of July

It's typically in the 90s here in Ohio on the 4th of July so I like to serve a frozen dessert so everyone can cool off.

This recipe is so easy to make using just 3 ingredients: sweetened condensed milk, heavy whipping cream, and 4th of July sprinkles.

You simply whip the cream, then stir in the sweetened condensed milk and sprinkles to make the red, white, and blue ice cream.

To mold it into a star, you'll need a silicone star cake pan which you can find on Amazon. I earn a small commission if you buy the mold using my affiliate link.

The mold that I used has a cool design on the bottom. You can serve your ice cream star with the design facing up if you prefer.

I added red jimmies (sprinkles) and blue jimmies to the ice cream before pouring it into the mold. You can also use red, white, and blue sprinkles if you prefer. I wasn't sure how the design would show up so I also added red, white, and blue star sprinkles on top.

Which ice cream star do you like better, the one with the design showing or the one with the red, white and blue stars sprinkled on top? Let me know in the comments below.

    Ingredients
    • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
    • 14 ounces (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
    • ¼ cup red, white, and blue jimmies (sprinkles)
    • 2-3 tablespoons red, white, and blue star sprinkles, optional
    Instructions
    1. Set the silicone star cake pan on a cutting board or baking pan that will fit into your freezer. This will keep the pan flat while transporting it the freezer.

    2. Whisk or beat the cream until it holds stiff peaks.

    3. Fold in the sweetened condensed milk until well combined.

    4. Then, fold in the red, white, and blue jimmies.

    5. Pour the ice cream into the silicone star mold.

    6. If desired, sprinkle red, white, and blue stars over the top of the ice cream.

    7. Freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.

    8. Remove the ice cream star from the freezer and peel away the silicone mold.

    9. Set the star on a serving platter and serve immediately or place it back in the freezer until ready to serve.

    Recipe Notes

To serve, run a thin knife under hot water. Then dry the knife and slice into the ice cream cake. It will cut right through the ice cream.
