If you’d like to see just how I got that shiny appearance on those modeling chocolate bottles or how I wrapped my cake in fondant, stop by Tablespoon.com for the step-by-step Cooler Cake tutorial.
This red Cooler Cake looks pretty real filled with isomalt ice cubes and shiny modeling chocolate beer bottles and is the perfect dessert for a tailgating party.
It’s tailgating season, and for those of you who pack up your trunks full of food, head off to the football game, hang out in the parking lot, and party before the kick off, this Cooler Cake is for you.
With it’s simple rectangle shape, it’s easily transportable and it’s the perfect size to feed up to 16 hungry fans.
I made this cooler cake the size of a personal cooler, but the same idea could be used to make a very large cake. To make this cake I baked two 9×13 cakes, cut them in half, stacked them with frosting in between, then wrapped them in red frosting. I added a white fondant rim, tossed in some isomalt ice cubes, and hand sculpted modeling chocolate bottles.
