Make a quick and easy snack for Halloween. These Sweet Ghost Crisps take minutes to make, look super cute, and taste great.
As soon as these cute ghosts came out of the oven, I fell in love! These Halloween treats look so cool. I'd never seen anything like them and couldn't wait to share them with you.
The other afternoon after I finished working on my Googly Eyed Ghost Lollipops post, I opened my refrigerator, and there on the shelf was a package of egg roll wrappers. Inspiration struck.
I had just finished draping modeling chocolate over rice krispies treat balls to make ghost pops and thought I could use the egg roll wrappers to do a similar thing.
So, I grabbed the egg roll wrappers and started playing. After experimenting, I found that if I brushed an egg roll wrapper with egg wash, sprinkled on some sugar, and draped it over the underside of a cupcake pan, I could create a cool ghost-shaped treat.
I thought they were so cute. They taste great too. They have a crisp texture with caramelized sugar on top. You can serve them with chocolate dip.
If you want to make a savory version, instead of sprinkling them with sugar, use salt instead. You could serve them with cheese dip.
Sweet Ghost Crisps (makes 12)
Ingredients
12 egg roll wrappers
black edible food marker
egg wash - 1 egg mixed with 1 teaspoon water
½-2/3 cup granulated sugar
Supplies
parchment paper or tin foil
muffin tins/cupcake pans
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Use the black food coloring marker to draw faces onto each egg roll wrapper.
Let the food coloring dry.
Brush egg wash over the egg roll wrapper, but don't brush directly over the face or the edible ink may smear.
Sprinkle a generous amount of sugar over each wrapper or sprinkle with salt if you want a savory snack.
Set your muffin tins upside down.
Roll pieces of parchment paper or foil up into golf ball-sized balls and place them on top of the muffin cups, leaving plenty of room in between each for the egg roll wrappers to drape. I only placed 4 ghosts on a 12-cup muffin tin, to give them plenty of room.
Drape one egg roll wrapper over each of the paper balls.
Bake for 5-6 minutes until golden brown.
Storage
These will be best eaten the day they are made but can be stored for up to a week in a metal tin. The tin will seal tightly keeping the crispy ghosts fresh.

I made these today with some leftover wonton wrappers, using a mini muffin tin and marble-size balls of parchment. Super cute and actually kind of a sophisticated taste -- sweet and savory. Thanks for the great idea!

This is a great idea- and seems simple enough that I might be able to make them for dessert one week-night after dinner! I plan to feature a picture and a link to this on my Links to Love post tomorrow over at www.momof6.com.
Thanks!
