Mini Cupcake Bookworms

This morning when I was walking my dog, I noticed a buzz of activity on my usually peaceful stroll. Cars were whizzing by us and the sidewalks were filled with school children. The kids are back to school, already. It’s so hard for me to imagine being a young kid and having to go back to school so early in August.

When I was young, I spent the whole month of August splashing around our neighborhood pool. The thought of having to give up three whole weeks to go back to sit in a classroom during all those sunny summer days would have been dreadful to me.

So I made these cute bookworm cupcakes for all those kids out there who are sad about having to put away their bathing suits and head back to school.

These little mini cupcake bookworms are so easy to make and they’re so cute. I know your kids are going to love them. How fun for them to come home from school to find one of these cute little lemony green buttercream frosted cupcake bookworms on the kitchen counter. Each sweet back-to-school snack is decorated with modeling chocolate glasses and googly eyes.

If you’d like to see the from-scratch vanilla cupcake and lemon buttercream recipe and tutorial to make these adorable bookworm cupcakes, head over to dixiecrystals.com.

Whether you want to surprise your kids when they head back to school or thank a teacher for a job well done, these cute school and teacher's treats will score you an A+.
