Make some cute Cookie Dogs with your kids. They'll love these sweet Peanut Butter Puppies made with Nutter Butter Cookies and candy.

cookie dogs Nutter Butter puppies with white chocolate eyes, milk chocolate noses, and caramel ears.

If you are looking fun a fun kid's recipe to make for a snack or party treat, this is it.

These dog-shaped cookies are so easy to make. They are a perfect crafty snack to make with young kids. You simply attach candy to Nutter Butter Cookies. I can't really call this a recipe, it's that easy!

Not only are these fun to make for a snack but they would make cute treats to serve at a birthday party, pet adoption, baby shower, or Valentine's Day party.

decorated dog cookie Nutter Butter with candy eyes, a chocolate chip nose, and caramel ears.

Follow the step-by-step instructions below to make these cute peanut butter puppies. Have fun!

    Ingredients

    Nutter Butter Cookies
2 white chocolate chips per cookie*
1 large milk or dark chocolate chip per cookie*
    1 caramel square per cookie
    black food coloring marker
a small dab of creamy peanut butter per cookie

*I used Nestle White Morsels and Kroger Private Selection Milk Chocolate Chips. You just want to make sure that the chips you use for the dog's noses are larger than the chips you use for the eyes. You could also use candy eyes if you prefer.

    Supplies

    knife
    cutting board

    Instructions

decorating Nutter Butter Cookie dogs using white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, caramel, black food coloring marker, and creamy peanut butter.

Use a sharp knife to cut off the tips of your white chocolate chips. Draw pupils onto each white chip using a black food coloring marker.

Cut the tips off the milk chocolate chips.

Cut your caramels in half and form each half into a dog ear. If you prefer, you can roll the caramels out using a rolling pin and cut them into ear shapes, discarding the excess caramel. These will be lighter and easier to use if you need to move your puppies around a bit.

Use creamy peanut butter to adhere your decorations to your cookie.

    That's it. Aren't they sweet?

Since my daughter has a habit of bringing home stray dogs since she was a child, I made these for her 25th birthday bash. But I used chocolate cookie dough and marshmallow fluff and Nutella since she is allergic to peanut butter. They turned out just as cut, but a bit more work, since I had to shape the dough by hand to get the peanut shape.

I have sleep overs for my great nephews ages 2 1/2 & 51/2. We always make some type of easy-to-do cookies. THIS willl be perfect! They will get a kick out of making puppies! Last summer we made the pretzel Rolo fish cookies and the blue Jello in an actual fish bowl with the Swedish red gummy fish. Fun times for them making memories with their Great Aunt Nan.
