Top freshly baked brownies with these adorable modeling chocolate toppers. These Christmas Kids in their big fluffy winter coats will warm your heart this holiday season.

Oh, I just couldn't wait to post this modeling chocolate design. I just love these sweet little Christmas kids. Aren't they cute?
This is day three of my series.
For those of you visiting for the first time and for those that haven't read my first post in this series featuring Christmas Mouse Cookies and the post which inspired this entire series featuring Chocolate Penguin Rice Krispies Treat Pops, you might want to check them out so you know all of the basics about decorating with modeling chocolate.
Modeling Chocolate Christmas Kids
Atop a Frosted Brownie
Before you begin, if you aren't experienced with making chocolate, read my chocolate making tutorial which includes information on types of chocolate to use, melting instructions and the recipe for modeling chocolate.
You'll need:
white modeling chocolate, recipe here*
dark modeling chocolate recipe here*
peach (or orange) candy coloring
food handling gloves (highly recommended to use when adding color)
powdered sugar, to dust work surface
cutting board
rolling pin
egg cookie cutter - 2" wide by 2 ½" tall
food only paintbrush
knife
* I used dark modeling chocolate to create the eyes and hair, but you can simply color some white modeling chocolate with black food coloring instead if you don't want to make two types of modeling chocolate.
Instructions:
If you are only making white modeling chocolate, pinch off some of it and color it black for the eyes and hair.
For detailed coloring instructions, go here. This is where I wear those food-handling gloves, otherwise, my hands turn colors. You will also need to color some white modeling chocolate to look like skin color. If you have peach food coloring, use it, if not, then use a very small amount of orange.

- Dust a cutting board lightly with powdered sugar.
- Roll out the white, peach, and dark (or black) modeling chocolate to 1/16" of an inch.
- Use the egg cookie cutter to cut out the heads.
- Use the small end of the #12 round pastry tip to cut two small circles for each of the eyes out of black or dark.
- To do this you'll want to press the pastry tip, tip side down, into the modeling chocolate cutting a small circle, then turn it upside down and tap on the counter and the circles will drop out the larger end of the tip.
- I usually cut a bunch of circles, before turning the tip upside down.
- To make the eyes moon-shaped press the end of the pastry tip into each dark circle cutting off a small oval piece from each circle.
- Also, use the pastry tip to cut a nose out of the peach color for each child. Pinch off small pieces of dark modeling chocolate, and roll them into very thin logs to create the smiles.
- To create the fur hood, create a template by setting the egg-shaped cookie cutter on a piece of paper and drawing a bumpy circle around it.
- Cut that shape out then cut an oval out of the center of it.
- Place this template down on your white modeling chocolate and cut around it using a knife.
- Use a black food coloring marker to draw fur onto the hood.
- Do the same for the hair by cutting a template of a half-circle that is larger than the opening in the hood template.
- Cut the hair out of the dark or black modeling chocolate.
- Then use a knife to cut slits partway up the half circles.
- Gently spread the half-circle open a bit to allow some space in between the pieces of hair to show.
- Attach the shapes together using water to create each child.
- Ex: lightly brush the very top edge of the hair with water.
- Press it onto the backside of the fur hood piece. Then brush the hood with water and attach it to the peach egg-shaped head.
For more detailed instructions on cutting shapes, see the post featuring my modeling chocolate penguins.

- Cut your brownies with the egg-shaped cookie cutter.
- Frost the tops and press one of the children on top.
- Store in an airtight container or wrap in cellophane bags to give as gifts.

oh please...
Eskimo does not mean "raw meat" nor is it any more racist than the term Inuit. In Cree, askamiciw means he eats it raw but there is no evidence whatsoever that this has anything to do with people known as Eskimo. I can't speak for other places other than I have heard that Canadian Inuit and Greenlander do not like the term Eskimo but in Fairbanks the term "Eskimo" is considered acceptable.
Furthermore, if you are talking about Native Americans in Alaska, I suggest you use Eskimo since it refers to more than just the Inuit people.
BTW, the term "Eskimo" is actually thought to come from a word meaning "snow-shoe netter" or possibly just "people who speak a different language"

it is still up in the air about what that term refers to (snow-shoe netter or raw meat eater)...many people believe that the show shoe interpretation would not be accurate because most of the Native-Americans above the 49th parrellel would have found it necessary to use snowshoes because of the cold temperatures...personally i think it would be better to avoid all terms that people would find offensive even if you believe it to be silly...
Btw i think these are absolutely adorable!!!

Thank you. I'm glad you like my design. I really didn't know there was such varied opinions about the correct term to use and agree with you that I don't want to offend anyone.

I have been glued to your site for a week now!!! Love it!! I came across your chocolate heart boxes which are just amazing and delightful!!!..Along my site travels there were some boxes with beautiful leaves trimming around the edges. I've gone everywhere and can't find it again. When I did see it I could not see directions for that specific recipe...can you tell me if you have it posted somewhere or where I might find it?? Thanks...and you're amazing!!!

Wow, I really had no idea that the word Eskimo was considered racist. I am very sorry if I offended anyone. I hope I changed the word and used it correctly.

It's inuit, thanks.

These are very cute, but the word 'eskimo' is extremely racist, meaning raw meat. Inuit is the actual name of the people you are referring to.

They look adorable. Would love for you to share this with us over at foodepix.com.
