Pumpkin Pail Cake filled with Halloween Candy

October 23, 2014 This post may contain affiliate links.

This Halloween serve your party guests a cake filled with candy. Not only is there candy coming out of the top of this Pumpkin Pail Cake but when you cut open the cake you’ll find more candy hiding inside.

Did you carry a plastic pumpkin to collect candy when you went out trick or treating on Halloween?

It’s the perfect candy collecting vessel for young kids. Of course, at some point, most kids outgrow the pumpkin and opt for a pillowcase.

I remember using both and as much as I loved running from door to door collecting candy, my favorite part of the night was when I got to dump the candy out onto the table to see what was hiding inside my bucket or pillowcase. There was something quite magical about that moment.

I tried to recreate that feeling of excitement in this cake. When you look at the cake it looks just like an iconic plastic bucket filled with candy. Then you cut into it to find even more candy is hiding inside.

Now that is my kind of Halloween dessert.

Pumpkin Pail cake filled with Halloween candy.

This cake was so much fun to make and even more fun to serve.

Thankfully, I did write a very detailed tutorial in case you’d like to make one for yourself.

Stop by Tablespoon.com to see how I turned a pumpkin spice cake into this fun Halloween dessert.

No, I cannot believe that's a cake. It looks so perfect!

And yeah, I get like that too. So excited I can't sleep, then when the day comes I can't wait for it to be over. Haha. Good luck today with the 90 guests.

I'll tell you now.. if I knew you and saw this cake on here, I'd be extremely disappointed if I didn't see this at the party!

Thanks. I'm sure once my guests see all the amazing desserts I've made they wont miss having the cake, but it sure would have been cool to serve it.I can't believe it but I slept well last night and am rested and relaxed. My guests arrive in just over 8 hours and I'm ready to have some fun.

I’m curious what size sphere cake pan you used to make this? I want to attempt the recipe, thanks!

      Hi Melissa,

I used a Wilton Ball Cake Pan. The sphere is about 6 inches in diameter. You can find the pans at craft stores and on Amazon using this affiliate link – https://amzn.to/35ebMOj.
