Get playful in the kitchen and put some fun in your kid’s lunchbox. It’s so easy to turn Smucker’s® Uncrustables® into these PB&J Bunny Sandwiches and your kids are going to love them. This post is sponsored by Smucker®.
If I had young kids in my house, I’d go nuts making fun sandwiches for them. This bunny took me minutes to create and the kids I did share them with, thought they were so much fun.
Over the weekend, my husband and I enjoyed the most amazing outing to Idle-Hour Ranch with some friends and their three young kids. We all had the experience of a lifetime getting to cuddle with the most adorable baby kangaroo.
Last year when we saw this little guy pop his head out of his mama’s pouch, we never imagined we’d actually get to scratch his belly. He loved the attention so much that he’d snuggle under your chin while you pet him.
I love to see how much the owner cares about these animals and how he goes out of his way to educate his ranch visitors.
The afternoon was filled with lots of melt your heart moments. You know the kind of emotion you feel when you see the cutest, tiniest, sweetest, animal.
Imagine what it’s like to have a baby pot bellied pig fall asleep in your arms, or to help rescue a baby bird who has just fallen from it’s nest, or to hold the softest little rabbit.
Aaah!
It’s wonderful.
Holding the baby bunny was one of the highlights of the day for the kids and it was perfect as I had brought along these cute PB&J bunny sandwiches for our lunch.
Before we headed out for our adventurous day, I packed up my fun animal themed sandwiches along with lots of fruits, veggies and snacks. The ranch has a nice covered picnic area, so before we handled the animals, we sat down to enjoy our meal.
The Smucker’s® Uncrustables® animals were a hit with the kids. They dined on sandwiches that looked like Monkeys, Bunnies and Sheep.
All of the zoo themed sandwiches were pretty easy to create using Smucker’s® Uncrustables®.
To create the sheep, use a flower cookie cutter to cut around the outer edge of the sandwich to make it look like a big ball of fur. Then pipe the sheep’s head onto the bread using some Jif chocolate spread. I used the new Salted Caramel Hazelnut Chocolate Spread which tasted great on the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Add two candy eyes and pipe on some eyebrows and a nose using a bit of black frosting. You could also use some black jimmies (sprinkles,) if you have some on hand.
To make a bunny sandwich, cut two tear drop shaped ears out of one Uncrustables® and set them under one edge of another Uncrustables®.
Draw black pupils onto 2 white candy melts wafers using a food coloring marker. Attach them to the sandwich with a dab of Jif chocolate spread. Add a black jelly bean or chocolate covered almond under the eyes to create a nose.
Pipe on a smile and some fur in the ears.
Pack the bunny sandwiches in lunch boxes and you are ready for a trip to the zoo.
I shared the tutorial for making a monkey sandwich last week. I chose to make some monkeys because we were so excited about seeing the new Marmoset monkey at the zoo. Sadly, for us, the monkey was out on location at a party. So, we’ll just have to go back to see him another time.
There were so many other animals to see that we sure kept busy.
We weren’t the only ones who enjoyed a fun lunch that day. The animals at the ranch enjoy special treats on the weekends when visitors stop by.
We spent hours feeding and petting the animals and really had a fabulous time.
When we went to visit Lubbins, the prairie dog I wrote about last week, we noticed her house was empty. When I inquired about her, the ranch owner told me the sad new. Lubbins got out of her pen and disappeared a few weeks ago. I was heartbroken as were the owners. She will surely be missed.
The day was so amazing despite the sad news.
After a long day at the ranch, we piled back in the car, enjoyed some more snacks, and headed home.
I found all the snacks and ingredients for my fun sandwiches at Walmart. Be sure to make Walmart your “SNACKATION” destination.
I was compensated by the J.M. Smucker Company to create this fun lunch and to share it with you. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Looks like a fun day was had by all, including the animals. Then to end with an edible animal lunch couldn’t have been better!
We really had a fantastic day, one I’ll never forget. I love having unique encounters like that, and every time we visit the ranch we experience something new. I was really happy the kids loved their lunches. They thought they were so much fun.
A perfect day and a perfetly adorable lunch!
I am sad about the prairie dog but maybe you can honor him by making a fun sandwich that looks like him!
It really was the perfect day. I was so sad about Lubbins and do hope she survives in the wild.
Those bunny sandwiches are so fun, bunnies are my son’s favourite animal. How cool that you got to interact with a kangaroo. We have wallabies (pretty much like kangaroos but smaller) hopping around the end of the street where we live 🙂
That is so amazing that you have wallabies hopping around your street. I want to visit Australia to see kangaroos and koalas in their natural habitat. The trip is on my bucket list and I really hope it happens sometime soon. Holding that baby bunny was really wonderful too. I can see why your son loves them so much. They are so sweet and soft.
Looks like y’all had so much fun..what a great way to spend a summer day! Sorry to hear about little Lubbins. 🙁
I adore kangaroos..and how cool to get to see him from his beginnings!
What a cute and sweet bunny sandwich to enjoy on a picnic. 🙂
It was the best day I had all summer. I never imagined I’d get a chance to pet a baby kangaroo. It was really cool.
