Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls (Dia de los Muertos Calavera de Azucar)

November 1, 2013 This post may contain affiliate links.

Our house is decorated with lots of vividly colored sugar skulls for our Day of the Dead celebration. We have paper and felt skulls hanging on our walls and painted sugar skull masks covering the faces of our mannequins.
Our pumpkins are even painted to look like them. There will be plenty of  sugar skull themed food on our dessert and dinner buffet too. Our guests are even going to have the opportunity to decorate a real sugar skull to take home with them.
Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls are easy to make and so fun to decorate using royal icing.
Sugar Skulls are a traditional decoration used for Dia de los Muertos events and I really enjoyed making these for our party. If you’d like to make your own Sugar Skulls for the Day of the Dead, head over to Tablespoon.com to see my tutorial.
I’ll be back soon to share pictures of our party.
