Chocolate Ice Cream Hot Dogs and Pound Cake Fries

August 4, 2014 This post may contain affiliate links.

Put a twist on a classic American food and make these Chocolate Ice Cream Hot Dogs and Pound Cake Fries! This delicious dessert is a great April fools trick or serve it as a snack on a hot summer day!

Chocolate Ice Cream Hot Dogs and Pound Cake Fries

Need to cool off this summer? These fun Chocolate Ice Cream “Hot Dogs” and Pound Cake Fries will help you do just that.

These frozen summer treats may look like hot dogs but are actually ice cream sandwiches. The hot dogs are created using chocolate ice cream and are served up in pound cake buns and are drizzled with a bit of red or yellow icing to resemble ketchup or mustard.

ice cream summer dessert

Although I know of several people who would eat real french fries with their ice cream, I thought these chocolate ice cream hot dogs would taste best served alongside some toasty pound cake fries.

I made these ice cream sandwiches for Tablespoon.com (click here for recipe and tutorial.).

Some people have commented on Tablespoon’s Facebook page that they didn’t like the brown color of my ice cream hot dogs. Some actually made really gross comments, which I won’t share here.

These hot dogs are made of ice cream, they aren’t meant to look exactly like a real hot dog, only give the illusion of a hot dog and I think they look fine with the chocolate brown color, but you may want ice cream with more realistic color. If you find a flavor that is just the right shade of hot dog, please let me know! I couldn’t find anything.

This dessert is great for summer but would also make a fantastic April Fool’s Day treat.

OMG these are great!!! My Dad LOVES hot dogs this would be a fun and awesome thing to make for him! As for the color – I got the jist right away that they were hotdogs and am excited to try them. (Apparently some people do not have a filter – Besides the old saying if you dont have something nice to say don't say anything at all….we could use a little more of that now a days.) :0) These are great!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!

These are awesome! And I've found that people tend to make lots of rude and stupid comments on Facebook. 😉

Thanks Alexis. Yes, I've noticed that people are more likely to be rude on social media. I'm so happy people don't make comments like that here on my blog.

Anyone put off by the "brown" color of the ice cream could easily use another flavor that would be more to there liking (or use vanilla and add food coloring) sheesh!

I think these would be great for a summer event or for an April Fool's Day meal.
