Oreo Angels - Simple Christmas Cookies

Modified: Jul 20, '24 · Published: Nov 24, '14 · By: Beth Klosterboer · Commission earned on paid or sponsored links.

Give one of these precious Oreo Angels to all of your little angels this holiday season and see the magic that a chocolate-covered cookie holds. They will all shine bright and maybe even make the nice list.

oreo angels decorated with cookies, dried apricots, and candy

I'm not saying the kids will become perfect little angels, only that for a moment while the lollipops are in their mouths, there will be peace.

This holiday season, I'm going to do my best to sprinkle in some super easy edible craft projects among the more challenging ones and write short, to-the-point posts, so I can get back in the kitchen and work on more projects.

    Instructions

making OREO angels using white fudge OREO Cookies, cookie icing, cookies, and candy.

Use a sharp knife to smooth out the edges of your White Fudge Oreos if they are not perfectly round.

Draw eyes and a mouth onto each Oreo Cookie using a black food coloring marker.

Cut an oval hole in the middle of each apricot using a knife or a small oval cutter to create a halo. Brush with gold luster dust, if you'd like.

Unwrap candies. If needed, heat one piece of candy at a time in the microwave on defrost for about 10 seconds to soften. Flatten out the candy, then cut it into angel hair. Shape it over the top of an Oreo and cut off excess. Do one candy at a time as they don't stay soft for very long.

Cut two petals off each flower-shaped shortbread. Brush them with silver luster dust. Glue two cookies together at the cut seam using cookie icing or melted Candy Melts. Attach to the back of an Oreo Angel using either of the edible glues. Allow the edible glue to dry completely.

Sweet Oreo Angels on a gold tray

Serve the Oreo Angels on a platter.

    making OREO angel lollipops.

Or attach lollipop sticks or paper straws to the backside of each angel using melted Candy Melts. Spoon some of the candy melts onto the back side of the cookies, set a stick on top, and add more candy melts to cover the stick. Allow them to dry completely before moving them.

Being the apricot halos stick out from the front of the cookie, I found it easiest to set the angels flat by hanging them over the edge of my cutting board, allowing the apricot to touch the table. I hadn't planned on putting them on sticks until I was done. You might find it easier to add the halos after you put them on sticks.

Oh so cute! We don't have white fudge oreo cookies here in Australia, but I'm sure I can cheat my way out of it using white chocolate melt 🙂 You're very creative

Thanks, Wita. Actually, I felt like I was cheating by using the fudge covered Oreo cookies. I would usually dip them in white chocolate myself. So, yes, that's the perfect thing to do. Have fun.

What a sweet choir angels you can make with all "store bought" stuff. They'd be great to bring to a Sunday school class. The instructions for making hair is great and the different colors make each angel such an individual.

Looking back - your silly snowmen look like something out of FROZEN. They ARE silly and make one laugh because of their funny eyes and happy expressions.
