Summer Appetizers – Savory Ice Cream Cones

Savory Ice Cream Cones

Put a twist on your normal cone and make these simple Savory Ice Cream Cones! They’re so easy to make and are great Summer Appetizers for any party.

Summer Appetizers - Savory Ice Cream Cones

This summer, my grocery store finally got some mini cake cones in stock. I’ve been hoping to find them in a store so I didn’t have to buy 100 of them on-line. I’ve had this idea to create an ice cream cone appetizer ever since I first saw these tiny cake cones used by another blogger (can’t remember who, now) and was excited to give it a try.

how to make Savory Ice Cream Cones

I used Joy Mini Cups to create my appetizers. They really aren’t sweet at all, so they worked perfectly. For my first attempt at making a savory ice cream cone, I simply whipped up a batter using a box of Jiffy corn muffin mix, piped it into my mini cups, and baked them at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Once cooled, I piped on some Philadelphia Vegetable Cream Cheese to make some cones look like they had soft serve ice cream in them, and scooped on some cream cheese for a different look.

That’s it! They are so simple, I didn’t think I needed to write a step-by-step tutorial. I brought my appetizer cones to the game night we had last month and everyone thought they were adorable. I have to admit that I think the flavor could have been much more interesting, so I plan to try these again using a different recipe. But, I love the idea of these savory ice cream cones, and wanted to share it with you before summer is over.

WOW these look cool! And you could do a variety of different things with them such as fill them with m and m's or other little tasty tidbits, then add a little chocolate or fudge, brownies and frosting.

    Thanks for the inspiration!
