Have fun with your kids making cute Cute Bear Cakes. This fun food craft is super easy to make for a snack today.
This cute food craft is easy enough for kids to make on their own but adults will have fun making them too.
Each treat is made using snack cakes like Hostess Ding Dongs, Drake Cakes Ring Dings, or moon pies. They take minutes to decorate using cookies and candy.
They make a fun after-school snack but would also be fun to make for a birthday party, Valentine's Day, a baby shower, or an animal-themed event.
Black Bear Snack Cakes
Ingredients
round chocolate snack cakes (Hostess Ding Dongs, Ring Dings, Moon Pies)
Mini Oreo Cookies
candy eyes
pink candy-coated sunflower seeds (or any small pink candy)
black food coloring marker
Supplies
printed paper straws or lollipop sticks
Instructions
Insert a paper straw or lollipop stick into each snack cake.
Separate the mini Oreo Cookies, leaving the filling on one side. Press two of the filling topped cookies, into the snack cake opposite the straw for the bear's ears. Scrape off any filling residue that is on the other cookies.
Use frosting to adhere one cookie about ¼" from the edge of the cake near the straw for the bear's snout.
Attach one pink sunflower seed for the nose at the top of that Oreo cookie.
If you'd like, you can use the food coloring marker to make the pupils larger on the candy eyes. I think they look cuter that way. Attach them above the nose.
Draw mouths onto the mini Oreo Cookies.
Use the edible ink marker to add eyelashes if you'd like some female teddy bears.
That's it, they are done. Aren't they sweet?
Storage
Store in an airtight container. Do not refrigerate.
If you would like to give these as party favors, wrap them in clear cellophane bags and tie them with a ribbon.
