Game Night Food Ideas - Dice Dip

Published: Jul 23, '13 · Modified: Feb 23, '18 · By: Beth · This post may contain affiliate links.

Gather all your friends and family for a night full of fun and excitement. There are lots of game night food ideas and my favorite is this Dice Dip. It is extremely simple and easy and will go well with whatever game you decide to play.

    game night food ideas

Having my parents back in town means more social functions for me. My mom loves to entertain, much more than any of my friends do, and you know me, I love a good party. So, last week my mom gathered some friends together for a game night.

I took the opportunity to actually make food for a real function and it was great. So much of what I make these days gets fed to my neighbors, because I don't always make it for an actual party. It was nice for a change, to make several game night appetizers and desserts to share at the party.

There will be more game night edible craft ideas to come, but today I'm going to start by showing you how to turn a simple dip in to a dice. The entire thing took me less than 15 minutes to make, and it looked so cool served on a game board along with some crackers. This dip would make a great addition to a Bunco party or a casino night event, as well.

    Game Night Dice Dip

    You'll Need:

One homemade or store bought dip (I used my favorite Chicken Dip, recipe here.)
black sesame seeds or poppy seeds
    1 square serving dish
1 small round cookie cutter (the size will depend on the size of your square dish)
    small spoon

Spread dip into square dish. I chose to use 5 dots, but you can do any number you'd like for your dice dip, just be sure to create your dots in the correct dice position. Press your small round cookie cutter into the dip, use a small spoon to scoop out some of the dip from inside the circle. This will create a well.

Clean the round cookie cutter. Then set it back over one well. Sprinkle in black sesame seeds or poppy seeds, filling in the area just to the top edge of the dip. Carefully remove the round cutter. If you over-fill them then the seeds will spill out.

Wipe your round cutter clean and repeat for the remaining wells.

Cover and refrigerate until needed. If your recipe, like my chicken dip recipe, requires it, heat just before serving.

Gather all your friends and family for a night full of fun and excitement. There are lots of game night food ideas and my favorite is this Dice Dip. It is extremely simple and easy and will go well with whatever game you decide to play.

I think this is fabulous....I'm only wondering why poppyseeds or sesame seeds???? I never knew those to be part of a chicken dip. I'm guessing you put the dip on the cracker and then sprinkle with seeds? Or....maybe you dip the cracker in the dip and then dip that first bite into the seeds? Oh my, I'll just have to become a more "party" person. Thanks and keep them coming.

Thanks! I chose sesame seeds or poppy seeds just because they are black and they really tasted quite good with the dip. People just scooped out the dip and if they happen to be near the dots, they scooped out the seeds as well then smeared them on a cracker. It's my families favorite dip and we have it at every function. You can use any dip you'd like to make this recipe, if you have a favorite.

This would be perfect for Bunco. I miss playing. We had a neighborhood group, but it fell apart a few years ago. We've been talking about trying to get it back together.
