Your kids will love this adorable Bookworm Snack made of mozzarella cheese bites. Adults will love them too! You can make these cute pizza puff bookworms for a school lunch, an after-school snack, or a book club meeting.

a Bookworm Snack decorated with cheese and olives in served with a bowl of marinara on a white plate set on a book.

These cute bookworms are so simple to create using store-bought mozzarella bites.

Each bite-sized pillow of pizza dough is stuffed full of mozzarella cheese. You'll simply heat them and add some decorations made of olives and cheese. It's so easy!

So, let's make some mozzarella-bite bookworms.

    Ingredients

bookworm snack ingredients including Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites, cheese slices, and black olives.

mozzarella bites - I used Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites
    cheddar cheese slices
    Provolone cheese slices
black olives - Use large olives or jumbo olives.

    Supplies

optional small round plunger cutters or metal cutters - You could also use large boba straws or a knife.

    Instructions

cutting bookworm eyes and glasses out of white cheese and black olives and cutting a book out of cheddar cheese.

Cut out cheese books and eyes and olive glasses and smiles.

Cut a book out of an orange cheese slice, and score it on either side of the spine using the back of a knife. Then cut two thin strips from the white cheese and set them across the orange books about ¼ inch from the edge.

Then cut two small rounds out of the white cheese for the eyes. I used a small round fondant cutter, but you can simply use a knife or kitchen shears.

Cut a slice off the outside of a black olive then cut two tiny circles to be used as the pupils. I used a small round plunger cutter, but a straw works well too.

Then cut two slices out of the center of another olive. Use a slightly larger round cutter than you used for the eyes, to cut the center out of those slices. Once again, you can just use a knife. You want the slices to be about 1/16th inch thick so that they look like the rims of a pair of black glasses.

Cut another smaller slice off the olive. Cut the center out of that slice too then cut it in half. One part will be used for the smile. Cut the other part in half to be used as the nose bridge on the glasses.

Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites in a box, a bag, and arranged on a baking sheet.

    Bake the mozzarella bites.

Once your cheese and olive pieces are cut, you can heat the Mozzarella Bites according to the package instructions.

Let them cool just slightly before decorating.

How to turn Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites into cute bookworms for a back to school snack. Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites

    Create your bookworms.

To create the bookworm's head, simply set the glasses, eyes, and mouth on top of a Mozzarella Bite.

Then make the worm's hands, cut a thin piece off the edge of a Mozzarella Bite then cut it into small half-moons. Set the two hands on either side of the book. If you are making more than one bookworm, you'll be able to get quite a few sets of hands out of one Mozzarella Bite.

Make going back to school just a little more exciting, by serving your kids a fun Back to School Snack. This Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites Bookworm will surely make them smile. It make even encourage them to pick up a book and read.

    Serve.

Arrange the Mozzarella Bites on a plate so that it looks like the bookworm. Set the cheese book on top in between the second and third little cheese puff so that the bookworm looks like he is reading the book.

    Serve with marinara dipping sauce.

    Variations

If you can't find the small mozzarella bites, you can make them yourself by wrapping pizza dough around frozen mini mozzarella cheese wheels like Babybel Cheese and baking them until golden brown in a 400-degree F oven.
