Make going back to school just a little more exciting, by serving your kids a fun Back to School Snack. This Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites Bookworm will surely make them smile. It make even encourage them to pick up a book and read.

Whether your kids love or hate going back to school, this snack is sure to brighten up their day.

I always dreaded summer coming to an end, because that meant the lazy days spent at the pool were over. For me, the biggest challenge on the first day of school was putting on my, oh, so lovely, green plaid jumper, knee high socks, and saddle shoes. After spending months barefooted in a bathing suit, having to wear a uniform every day, was just no fun.

I'm sure having a fun snack like this Mozzarella Bites Bookworm waiting for me after school would have made the transition just a little bit easier.

Use Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites to make cute Bookworms for your kids. This is a cute back to school treats.

These cute bookworms are so simple to create using Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites. Each bite-sized pillow of pizzeria dough is stuffed full of mozzarella cheese. They can easily be heated up in the microwave or baked in the oven. As I was designing this cute book worm, I couldn't resist snacking on a few of the Mozzarella Bites. The warm dough wrapped around gooey melted cheese made for the perfect afternoon snack.

Each of these tiny little cheese filled puffs is made with 100% real mozzarella cheese and authentic pizza crust. They are a good source of calcium and protein and have zero grams of trans fat, so you can feel good about serving them to your kids.

Farm Rich makes a wonderful array of snack items including their popular Mozzarella Sticks and Loaded Potato Skins, as well as, some new items, like Crispy Breaded Onion Rings and Pepperoni Pizza Roll-Ups. You can see the entire selection at FarmRich.com and use the product locator to find out where to buy them.

The bloggers have already been busy preparing some Back to School Snacks using Farm Rich products so that when we get together we can share our decorating ideas with each other. Aren't all of these snacks fantastic? I love that they are simple enough that even your kids can make them.

    Course: Snacks
    Cuisine: American
Keyword: appetizer, bookworm, farm rich, kids food, kids snacks, mozzarella, mozzarella bites
    Servings: 1
    Author: Beth Jackson Klosterboer
    Ingredients
    • Per Bookworm:
    • 1 slice orange cheese
    • 1 slice white cheese
    • 2 jumbo black olives
    • 7 Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites
    • marinara sauce for dipping
    Instructions
    1. Cut one slice of orange cheese into a book.
    2. Use the back of a knife to score the book to create the illusion of a spine.
    3. Cut two long thin strips from the white cheese slice.
    4. Set one strip of white cheese across the cheese book about ¼ inch from the top edge.
    5. Set the other strip near the bottom edge.
    6. Cut 2 small circles out of the white cheese, for the eyes.
    7. Cut 1 slice off the edge of an olive and cut that into two very small circles for the pupils.
    8. Cut two slices from the middle of the olive.
    9. Use a round cutter to cut the centers of the slices out creating the rims of the bookworm's glasses.
    10. Cut another slice from the olive and cut it in half. Half will become the smile. Cut the other piece in half to form the nose piece of the glasses.
    11. Heat the Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites according to package instructions.
    12. Arrange 6 of the Mozzarella Bites on a plate forming a worm.
    13. Cut one thin slice off the remaining Mozzarella Bite, then cut two small half moon shapes out for the worm's hands.
    14. Arrange the olive glasses, cheese eyes, and olive smile on the top Mozzarella Bite (head.)
    15. Set the book between the two Mozzarella Bites that are just below the head.
    16. Set one hand on either side of the cheese book.
    17. Heat the marinara sauce and serve on the side.

Cut books out of cheese then create eyes, a smile, and some glasses to decorate a Mozzarella Cheese Bites Bookworm snack.

Before you heat up your Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites, you'll want to get the decorations made.

Cut a book out of an orange cheese slice, and score it on either side of the spine using the back of a knife. Then cut two thin strips from the white cheese and set them across the orange books about ¼ inch from the edge.

Then cut two small rounds out of the white cheese for the eyes. I used a small round fondant cutter, but you can simply use a knife or kitchen shears.

Cut a slice off the outside of a black olive then cut two tiny circles to be used as the pupils. I used a small round plunger cutter, but a straw works well too.

Then cut two slices out of the center of another olive. Use a slightly larger round cutter than you used for the eyes, to cut the center out of those slices. Once again, you can just use a knife. You want the slices to be about 1/16th inch thick so that they look like the rims of a pair of black glasses.

Cut another smaller slice off the olive. Cut the center out of that slice too then cut it in half. One part will be used for the smile. Cut the other part in half to be used as the nose bridge on the glasses.

Now you can heat the Mozzarella Bites according to the package instructions.

How to turn Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites into cute bookworms for a back to school snack. Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites

To create the bookworm's head, simply set the glasses, eyes, and mouth on top of a Mozzarella Bite.

Then make the worm's hands, cut a thin piece off the edge of a Mozzarella Bite then cut it into small half moons. Set the hands on either side of the book. If you are making more than one bookworm, you'll be able to get quite a few sets of hands out of one Mozzarella Bite.

Create this fun back to school snack for your kids by decorating Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites with cheese and olives so that it looks like a bookworm. Ad

Arrange the Mozzarella Bites on a plate so that it looks like the bookworm. Set the cheese book on top in between the second and third little cheese puff so that the bookworm looks like he is reading the book. Serve with marinara dipping sauce.
