Do you feel as rushed as I do to get appetizers and snacks together for your holiday celebrations?
We are attending a Christmas eve party at my parent’s house and all the guests are supposed to bring a tasty snack to share. I’m making all the desserts too, so I needed to find something to bring that would not require hours of prep work, but still be filling and fun.
So, I crafted some festive Christmas Tree Snacks using spicy José Olé Chicken and Cheese Nacho Bites and crispy Chicken and Cheese Taquitos.
They turned out great and were so easy to make.
My husband and I couldn’t help but snack on all the trees I made yesterday. They were so filling that we skipped lunch.
I know they are going to be a hit with the party guests.
You can make homemade guacamole by mixing together two avocados, the juice from half a lime, 1/4 cup salsa, and some salt and pepper, to taste, or just buy some guacamole at the store.
Either way, you’ll want to puree it and pour it into a squeeze bottle or pastry bag, if you want to pipe it over the Nacho Bites. You can just spread it over top, if you prefer to leave it chunky.
To make the decorations, cut stars from yellow peppers using a small cookie cutter or knife and cut tiny pieces of tomato for the ornaments. I actually used a small round plunger cutter to cut tiny round tomato ornaments.
As soon as your Nacho Bites and Taquitos come out of the oven, add the decorations.
Cut each Taquito into 3 equal pieces. Set one Nacho Bite on a small plate. This will be the top of the tree.
Add a piece of Taquito for the trunk.
Pipe squiggles of guacamole over top of the Nacho Bite. Add a yellow pepper star and some tomato ornaments.
Have the kids help and you’ll have a bunch of these put together in no time. You could even have your guests decorate their own trees. That would make this food craft even easier.
