    Halloween Craft - Mummy Bucket

Modified: Aug 14, '23 · Published: Jul 11, '10 · By: Beth Klosterboer · Commission earned on paid or sponsored links.

Have fun with your kids and make a fun Halloween Craft! This spooky Mummy Bucket is so easy to make and can be filled with your favorite Halloween candies!

candy-filled orange and green mummy buckets wrapped in gauze with big googly eyes.

Last year we hosted our kid's Halloween party and many of the neighborhood kids attended. They all created a mummy bucket to use on Beggars' Night.

It was so fun to see them come to my door and shout "Trick or Treat" while holding out their crafty pail to receive their treat.

This project is so simple that with a little guidance even very young kids can create their own bucket. If you decide to do this project this Halloween, try to buy your buckets at the end of the summer. They go on clearance then and you will have a lot of pails to choose from.

    Supplies

supplies to make mummy buckets including glue, gauze, tape, and googly eyes.

    1 beach pail (any color)

    1 roll of gauze (3" x 4.5')*

    2 wiggly eyes

    glue (or double stick tape)

*I purchased these short rolls of gauze at the dollar store.

orange bucket with beads of glue and gauze being wrapped around it to make a mummy bucket.

Squeeze glue out in three lines down one side of your bucket (or put one or two strips of double stick tape down one side of your bucket).

Stick one end of the gauze over the glue and begin to wrap the gauze around the bucket.

an orange bucket wrapped up like mummy with gauze.

Wrap the gauze up and around the bucket gently pressing it into the glue. The end of the gauze will most likely not end up over the glue or tape, so glue or tape it down.

Pull two layers of gauze apart a few inches down from the top of the bucket.

orange mummy bucket wrapped in gauze with big googly eyes.

Glue or tape two wiggly eyes onto the bucket. I like to use two different size eyes to make the mummy look a little silly.

Each of these mummy buckets will cost just a few dollars and can be used for Trick or Treat or can be filled with candy and given as gifts.

Halloween baskets filled with candy and toys. A pumpkin pail is filled with a black cat cup and lots of candy and toys. The black cauldron has a eyeball cup along with a pumpkin caring tool, glow sticks, candy bars, and toys.

That's a cool idea for the Twilight Vampire Quesadilla's. My daughter and her friends would love it for their party.

Halloween was fun when I was a kid. You didn't have to worry about the crazies that are out there not. But one of the last years I went, I took my nieces. They were 8 years younger than me. Well someone ended up grabbing our bag and running down the street with it.

I wasn't sure if the comment was on the twilight enchiladas was supposed to be on that post or this one, so I wrote it there, and I'll copy it here:

WOW! I scrolled down the page looking for the picture, LOL! Once i saw you talking about stencils I realized I'd passed it by thinking it was just a plate!!

I think that this looks like an awful lot of work - I hope that whoever makes it has people over who would be thrilled by it!!

and black teeth after eating it?! LOL! Guess that will show the moms who brushes and who doesn't!

We always loved the costumes my mother would put together for us - typical girlie costumes, but they were cute, and much better looking than store-bought!

My mom always made super cool Halloween costumes for us and it was great because it wasn't just like what everyone else had it was unique. One year she made a matching costume for her and me, it was a dragon and it was such a great costume everyone was talking about it for weeks afterward. I definitely felt super cool! 🙂
