These Valentine's Pretzel Owls are a hoot to make! A mini pretzel twist is transformed into a sweet owl using pink chocolate and heart-shaped sprinkles. Perched on a chocolate-dipped pretzel "branch," they make an adorable, crunchy, and salty-sweet Valentine's Day treat or party favor.

Today I’m sharing the final treat in my Valentine’s Day pretzel animal series! This year, I’ve had so much fun designing four sweet mini-pretzel characters to help you celebrate.
If you haven’t seen them yet, be sure to check out the video tutorials for my Pretzel Unicorns, Pretzel Puppies, and Pretzel Fish. They all come with printable, "punny" bag toppers perfect for gifting!
I know many schools require store-bought snacks for classroom parties, but these are a fantastic DIY project for scout troops, Sunday school, sports teams, or a fun family afternoon at home. Which design has been your favorite so far? Let me know in the comments!

Meet the "Crazed" Valentine Owl
There’s something about those big, googly eyes that makes this owl look a bit silly—but totally lovable.
Each owl starts with a mini pretzel twist dipped in light pink candy melts. To bring them to life, we use heart sprinkles for everything! Jumbo pink hearts become the wings, while smaller heart sprinkles create the ears, beak, and tiny feet.
To give them a place to "perch," I used Snyder’s of Hanover Dipping Pretzels. They are about 3-4 inches long and much thicker than a standard pretzel stick, making them look like a sturdy tree branch.
📝 Recipe Notes & Tips
Choosing Your Chocolate: Use melted Light Pink Candy Melts for an easy, consistent color. If you prefer to use pure white chocolate, ensure you temper it correctly and use oil-based candy coloring to achieve that soft pink hue. (Standard liquid food coloring will cause the chocolate to seize!)
The Eyes Have It. For that expressive, "wide-eyed" look, use ½-inch candy eyes. Smaller eyes will work in a pinch, but the larger ones give the owl its quirky personality.
The "Branch" (Pretzel Sticks)
- Best Option: Pretzel Dipping Sticks (approx. 3" long).
- Alternative: Use full-size pretzel rods broken into shorter pieces.
- Thin Sticks: If you only have skinny pretzel sticks, double-dip them in chocolate to give them the thickness of a real branch.
Assembly Hack: For the best bond, attach your pretzel owl to the chocolate-dipped "branch" while the chocolate is still wet. If it sets before you're ready, simply use a small dot of melted chocolate as "glue" to secure the owl.
Precision Tools: If you find the small sprinkles fiddly to handle, use a pair of kitchen-only tweezers. They make placing the beak and feet much easier! Just ensure they are dedicated solely to food prep.

If you love these owl pretzels, you might also like to make some cute Little Birdie Pretzel Snacks! They're fun, festive, and great to decorate with your kids!

Hi everyone, I'm Michelle from the blog Sugar Swings! Serve Some, and I'm so excited to be here to share these fun little colorful birdie pretzel snacks while Beth is on her European adventure! Beth has definitely inspired me over the years with all of her creative food and dessert ideas, so it's really a treat to be sharing over here.
I wanted something simple that everyone could make, so I decided on these fun little pretzel snacks.

Little Birdie Pretzel Snacks
Ingredients:
- Jelly beans (I just love all the flavors and colors they come in!)
- Square Pretzels
- Candy melts or chocolate (I used light blue for the background, yellow for the bird accents, and regular melted chocolate chips for the nest/branches and eyes)
Instructions:

Assembly is so easy. Melt the candy melt in a zip lock bag, snip an end and "pipe" on the blue background. Add your jelly bean birds. Then pipe on the rest of the accents.
See easy and so cute! (I think it took maybe ½ hour to put these together)

Have an awesome week, and hope to see you over on my Sugar Swings! Serve Some blog soon. Beth, thanks for the invite over, I can't wait to hear about your trip - I'm sure you're getting tons of inspiration!

I am dying over here!!!! I just watched all four of your pretzel (or as my grandson calls them, princels!) videos, and while it's tough to choose one, the owls win out! It's too stinkin' cute just perched all up there on that branch! And that puppy dog with the chocolate spots, and the genius way you made the unicorn horn with modeling chocolate, and that fish with his bowl!
Your video how-tos have reminded me how much i need to buy a pair of tweezers for the tiny details.
I want to make these for my Sunday School class! These are SO much fun! :o)
