Tell your mom she’s as sweet as pie this Mother’s Day!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Sara Lee Frozen Bakery. The opinions and text are all mine.

Tell your mom she is as sweet as pie this Mother’s Day by serving her a slice of Sara Lee® Perfect Pairings™ Frozen Wild Berry with Lemon Crust.

During my childhood every holiday meal was made sweeter with a Sara Lee Premium Pie. My mom has never been much of a baker but she has always loved desserts. She doesn’t like to fuss over making a pie from scratch when she can enjoy a tasty pie that can simply be popped into the oven.

To this day she still keeps Sara Lee desserts in her freezer for when friends and family stop by.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner I am planning to surprise my mom by baking her one of the new Sara Lee Perfect Pairings Premium Pies.

There are two new flavors to choose from including Sara Lee Perfect Pairings Country Apple with Maple Crust and Wild Berry with Zesty Lemon Crust. I knew my mom would love the Wild Berry pie so I purchased one from Target this week to give it a try.

As the pie was baking the lemon scent filled the air. I was so excited to slice into it. I anxiously waited for it to cool enough to make that first cut.

It was worth the wait! Not only is this pie packed with orchard picked raspberries, blueberries, and cherries, it is baked in a uniquely flavored zesty lemon crust. It is so refreshing.

These pies have no artificial flavors, no high fructose corn syrup, and are naturally sweetened. The flavor of the berries and hint of lemon really shines through.

I just know my mom is going to love this pie and I bet your mom will too. I am certain you will love how easy it is to make.

This is the perfect dessert for your husband and kids to make for you on Mother’s Day too because it is just so easy.

To make your pie:

  • remove the frozen pie from the box
  • take off the protective plastic wrapping
  • set the pie on a baking sheet
  • cut 4 slits into the crust
  • bake in a 400-degree Fahrenheit oven for 65-70 minutes

The hardest part is waiting for the pie to cool before cutting into it.

You will get nicer slices of pie once the filling has had a chance to cool. After about 45 minutes the pie will be the perfect temperature to enjoy your first slice.

Doesn’t that slice of pie look wonderful?

You can find the Sara Lee Perfect Pairings Frozen Wild Berry with Lemon Crust at Target in the freezer section. I found the 40 ounce pies near the other frozen desserts in my Target store. Use the Sara Lee Product Locator to find availability at a Target near you.

The pies are already a great quality dessert at a great price but as an added bonus from 4/21/19 – 5/12/19 you can save 25% off one of the Sara Lee Perfect Pairings using the Cartwheel app.

mom you're as sweet as pie greeting card artwork

To make this Mother’s Day extra special for my mom, I created a cute printable greeting card that I will present to her on Mother’s Day along with her yummy pie.

If you’d like to print one out to give to your mom, just click on the image to get the pdf file. Then print it out on card stock or photo paper, fold the paper in half and cut out around it.

Be sure to write a sweet message inside and enjoy the special day together.

I’m a little confused. Am I in some sort of alternate universe or a time warp continuum? Did you just endorse or advocate a frozen premade pie from the supermarket for Mother’s Day? Are you by any chance subtlety telling your family it is just fine for them to heat (I can’t even uss the word bake here) this frozen pie for you on the day? While my mom would probably like the pie this just won’t work for me. We not only need to celebrate Mother’s Day that day but we also will be having her birthday dinner too and that means cake. My mom is a cakeaholic. Do they have group meetings for enablers of that because I do feed her addiction. AND we will NOT be going out to eat that day or any holiday. We can’t even get her to go to the Thanksgiving meal at the church. My mother is a VERY strong advocate in that holidays and events like birthdays should be celebrated in the home, not in some restaurant. (you should have heard her when I dated a guy for 5 years whose family went to a restaurant to eat every event except Christmas and that day the mom offered everyone a cold ham buffet. She was appalled). Once or twice when I was in college and they came to me for Mother’s Day we tried eating out and it was a DISASTER. Insanely long lines to even get in a place, terrible food, and she hated every minute. She said NEVER again. You see, the day my mother was born it WAS Mother’s Day and so her birthdsy is always either on or within a few days of that Sunday. Not to mention EVERY member of my family celebrates their birthday along with someone else or its another event or holiday. You know my mom’s, Memorial Day weekend it will be my nephew’s BD. Heck, even when I had my Lucy, my golden retriever I discovered she was born the day I had my Lasix surgery on my eyes and got rid of glasses and contacts for the first time since 5th grade. Bye bye to coke bottle bottoms forever. I don’t celebrate that day but I should. And THEN, when I lost her due to tumors and cancer last year, it was ON my birthday AND my parent’s wedding anniversary. Yep, I was born on their 1st anniversary in June. She came home to me on my birthday in 2006 and left us on my birthday 2018. NOTHING happens on its own in our family, it is the CRAZIEST thing. Heck, even my nephew’s girlfriend’s birthday is Groundhog day. But dad and brother, BDs two days apart. Niece and brother’s wife, BDs two days apart. For some reason we can’t just have one event. Even my sister-in-law’s mother has her birthday New Year’s Day. Is there some planet or moon or star or some crazy astrological event that hangs over our family? I’m even close to Princess Diana’s BD being born only 48 hours before her. And for YEARS, DECADES, everytime we try to plan something else in some other way comes up and we have multiple events. I can’t even have unique boyfriends. I’ve had 3 serious relationships in my life. The birthdays of these men are August 29th, 30th and 31st. I’m not kidding. And that was NOT planned. Once, when I still lived at home and was a Longaberger consultant, we had THREE different groups of people in the house that day for events. I had an Open House Christmas (but this is August) showing of the products, I had youth group people in for something (I lead the group at church then) and my parents were having a dinner party that night. As one group would leave, the next one was arriving. It was insane, we said never again. And now, 20 years later, it takes the whole family to just pull off a holiday meal. So no wonder you tell your family to just buy a pie. But as my mom’s health isn’t all that good, I try to do as much as I can. Who knows how many more I’ll have.

So is simplicity and lack of stress the purpose behind this post? I have trouble believing that Beth, Queen of the imaginative treats and baked goods just advocated a frozen pie.

I am always telling friends on my Facebook site that THIS is THE site to use for EVERY holiday for any cute or fun treats to share. I’m gobsmacked, flabbergasted and astounded to see this, its so out of character for you. Should we tell your family to check and make sure you are not an alien replacement? Bet any old alien can’t program some dumb old droid to be as creative with their baking or treats as you are. But I for one will be glad when things return to normal and once again I open the email to some cute treat I haven’t a clue as to how someone even thought of this idea let alone created it from food.

I laughed until tears ran down my cheeks reading your comment. The funny thing about my life is that my mom is a frozen dessert and frozen dinner kind of gal. She always has been and always will be. So for her, this dessert is perfect for Mother’s Day! She has been known to bake a simple pineapple or apple sheet cake and more recently has even doctored up some slice and bake cookies and does enjoy making ice cream pies but that’s really the extent of her dessert making skills. She cooks, only when necessary, and would much prefer heating up a frozen meal. So, when the opportunity arose to craft a post about a frozen Sara Lee pie, I felt I could write an honest story about my Mother’s Days. I’m not actually a mom, so I don’t have anyone making me dessert on Mother’s Day and my mom will be thrilled to end her meal with a Sara Lee Wildberry Pie.

The mystery in my life is where I got my love of baking. I’m not so sure, but my artistic skills and creativity definitely came from my mom. She is an artist and has a flair for the creative. She doesn’t really get my love of turning food into displays of cuteness but she does truly enjoy eating my homemade and semi-homemade treats. She is, however, constantly commenting on how much time I spend making them and that she would never have the patience to do so. So baking her a frozen pie and sharing a cute card with her will definitely make her happy.

I had fun reading all about your family and holiday connections. I share my birthday with my older brother, my father and niece also share a birthday, and my dog, Truffle was born on Valentine’s Day. That is the sweetest date of all!

I’ll be back tomorrow with some semi-homemade Strawberry Cupcakes which I hope you enjoy. My mom was here taking pictures of me for the post and I sent her home with a box of the cupcakes. She loved them!
