hi HUNGRY HAPPENINGS readers!
it’s me, sooper dooper psyched Lisa, from hoopla palooza coming to you today to guest post for Beth!
can i tell you how sooper dooper psyched i am to be here on one of my all time fave blogs?! oh yeah, i just did… i mean, when i grow up i want to be Beth! but heck, who am i kidding as i know she stands alone on her massive food creativity that makes everyone’s jaw drop.
over at my place, my blog‘s jam packed full of fun tutes to make fun food and crafts and such with a silly cartoon thrown here and there. it’s all in the name of serious fun.
so, since there is only one Beth, and life is not always a picnic in the kitchen for folks like me, let’s make up for it and have a picnic ok? it’ll be perfect for summer 🙂
first up, let’s get this:
If you are looking to use homemade Rice Krispie Treats, head on over to my new website, HowToMakeRiceKrispies.com. You can also check out how we taste tested 20 versions of the Rice Krispie Treat recipe to come up with the absolute BEST Rice Krispie Treat Recipe.
then let’s start with making this:
yup. we’re making a basket! you can find the caramel apple wraps at walmart by the apples. for this step, pretend the caramel is gift wrap and you are gift wrapping a krispie bar. use the caramel wrap paper to prevent it from sticking to your fingers and getting all crazy stringy and such. once the krispie is covered with the caramel, smooth it like you see in the pic. you can cover the bottom if you want by cutting a part of the caramel but i left it mostly uncovered so the bottom doesn’t stick on the plate it sits on.
ok now we need some kind of cloth to line the basket.
by wrinkling the paper, it looks more realistic. and because the caramel is sticky, the paper will stick very easily.
now we need a cover.
don’t cut the lid all the way through. it’s real easy to bend the lid just like a real picnic basket lid should look since the caramel rice krispie is so pliable. the lid sticks easily to the paper too just like the basket part did. once the lid is attached, put the basket in the fridge to firm up a bit while you get this:
so we are packing a hot dog, a green apple, 2 strawberries and 2 bananas. oh and another hot dog, a bottle of wine, some chocolate chip cookies, a frisbee, macaroni salad, plates, napkins, utensils, cups and and…oh i forgot to mention these things are inside the basket already that can’t be seen… :>O
ok let’s add a few more things to the outside.
again the pretzel stick attaches easily to the lid. just gently push it in. and tada! we are now ready to go to the park or beach and have some lunch.
oh looks like i made more than one basket! so i guess i will have to distribute them since i can’t possibly eat everything.
huh? you want one too? well alrighty then.
and there you go. a little picnic basket just for you and i won’t even tell anyone you are eating everything in it, including the basket.
