Ice Cream Cookie Cake Turkey for Thanksgiving

There is always so much to do for a Thanksgiving dinner that we all need to take some short cuts. But just because we use something store bought does not mean we can’t turn that dish into something spectacular that your dinner guests will love.

For Thanksgiving I have been known to grab packages of store bought mashed potatoes and rolls to bring to dinner but I don’t think I’ve ever brought a grocery store bought dessert. Now that I have found the NEW Carvel® Ice Cream Cookie Cakes that will have to change.

My family doesn’t agree on many desserts, but every time we have a chocolate chip cookie cake or an ice cream cake, the desserts get devoured. So I know my family will flip over this combo dessert that has a layer of creamy vanilla ice cream sandwiched in between two giant chocolate chip cookies. To top it all off, the entire outer edge of the ice cream is rolled in chocolate crunchies. YUM!

NEW Carvel® Ice Cream Cookie Cakes can be easily decorated like a turkey for Thanksgiving.

Even though I know my family will love this Ice Cream Cookie Cake as it is, you know I just can’t walk in the door without adding my special touch. I have to make it even more fun and festive.

I had several ideas of how I could transform this dessert into a fun Thanksgiving food craft, but I finally settled on adding a very simple turkey face to the top of the cookie. I figured you would appreciate a fast and easy design.

To make your own turkey all you need to do is  attach star tips to 4 pastry bags, fill them with black, white, orange and red frosting, then simply pipe on two big expressive eyes, a  beak and a wattle.

It’s quick and easy.

When the Ice Cream Cookie Cake is decorated it can go back into the freezer until dessert is to be served.

Watch this video tutorial to see how you can make your own Ice Cream Cookie Cake Turkey for Thanksgiving.

What a cute and simple idea! This is the first year that I will not be hosting our family Thanksgiving in many years. I’m looking forward to my daughter taking the reins this holiday. So now I know exactly what I can bring for dessert!! Thanks for another sweet treat, Beth! 😋

It’s so hard giving up that duty when you love to cook and host Thanksgiving, but I’m sure you will have a wonderful time at your daughter’s!
