Halloween Craft – Cookie Cutter Coasters

September 24, 2010 This post may contain affiliate links.

Looking for a quick way to make your Halloween party even more festive? These Cookie Cutter Coasters are a great way to have some fun with your kids, and they’re so simple to make!

I don’t know about you, but when we have Halloween parties we have many more guests than we have coasters. I found a fun, inexpensive, and easy way to create my own coasters that even fit our party theme. Cookie cutters and stencils are used to create a simple shape out of a thin foam sheet and they are attached to a round of thicker foam. These sheets cost $  .50-$1.00 each depending on where you purchase them. They are available at craft stores.

Handmade Halloween Foam Coasters

Supplies Needed:

1 sheet 2 mm black foam

1 sheet 6 mm white foam

3″ round cookie cutter

Halloween cookie cutters or Halloween stencils*

*I used this werewolf template to create the werewolf coasters

and a cat and bat cookie cutter for the others.

Instructions:

Press a 3″ round cookie cutter into the 6mm white foam.  Use scissors to cut around the circle. Press a cookie cutter (smaller than 3″) into the 2mm black foam.  Cut around the image.  Glue the cut out onto the round.  Allow to dry for at least 1 hour.  Repeat.  If using a stencil or one of my templates, lay the stencil on the black foam.  Mark along the edges and cut out image.
