It’s Kim, The Partiologist, back with another sweet treat. But first, how was everyone’s New Year? I’m off to a good start, broke my resolution the fist day, so now I can get on with the year and not feel any pressure. I kind of planned it that way. Because it involved these cookies… Football Cookie Pies!
Really, they’re football cookie pies, not football whoopie pies
Kick that around. I thought you’d like it.
I’m pretty sure they’ll score more than an extra point at your next game day hang out. And in the kitchen, they’re sure to score a touchdown because they are so easy to make.
Even on a pile up, they hold their shape.
So, here’s the game plan~
I have had this football shaped cookie cutter for years. YEARS. It is one of my favorites, but there are several other football shaped cookie cutters that would work. In fact, any football shaped cookie cutter would work. Yep, any size, any shape!
Make your favorite sugar cookie dough or use the recipe below.
Roll out the dough and because I used the cutter with an imprint, I had to use lots of flour on my dough so the cutter wouldn’t stick.
Remember to bake two football cookies for each cookie pie.
After the cookies are baked and cooled, turn one of the football cookies over and begin piping buttercream frosting (or royal icing) around the middle of the cookie.
Completely cover the entire cookie with frosting.
As soon as the cookie is covered in frosting, press another football cookie on top.
No matter how you stack them, they’re a winner!

Aww, thank you Lisa! Wishing you a wonderful New Year too! 🙂
Love all your football ideas. Where do you get the cookie cutter with the football impressions in it? All I can find is the ball shape.
Thank you, I have had the cutter for years and just love it. If you Google Hallmark Football Cookie Cutter you'll find a couple of places to buy it through Etsy or eBay. (Hurry fast, there are not many left!) 🙂
