Edible Thanksgiving Place Cards

November 16, 2014 This post may contain affiliate links.

Personalize your Thanksgiving spread this season and make these Edible Thanksgiving Place Cards. These cookies will provide your guests with a tasteful way of finding their seats.

Edible Thanksgiving Place Cards

I’m back! It’s Kim, The Partiologist, this time with a DIY Edible Place Card.  I always like to have a plan and part of that plan is to do what ever I can, before the Holidays.  Speaking of Holidays, Thanksgiving is going to be here before you know it.  Each year I think about making edible place cards for the table.  Each year, I just tell everyone where to sit.  That works, but it’s not as fun.  These Edible Thanksgiving Place Cards are!

And my favorite part is, they can be made ahead of time.

Just seal to keep them fresh and safe from all chocolate lovers.

Here’s how to get your turkey’s to the table.

Now, I’m sure you have a bag of candy laying around the house, right?  Preferably Hershey’s snack size chocolate bars.

Color white fondant in the colors you plan to use for your Thanksgiving table.

I chose golden yellow, avocado green and rust.

The little turkey cutter is probably a pie crust cutter, but we all know I don’t make pies.  To make the purchase worthwhile, I made fondant turkeys.

Just roll and cut the fondant, using this cute little guy.

Let the turkey’s dry overnight on parchment paper.

Now it’s time to make the names.  Fortunately my family has short names.  If you have a family with long names, you might have to use bigger candy bars, or just invite friends with short names.

Roll out the fondant and press the name in the fondant.  I also thought about writing the name with frosting, that would work too.

Cut into a strip with a No. 4 strip cutter (23 MM,) or a knife works great too.

Just measure it to fit the candy bar.

Unwrap the candy bars, place the names on the bars, just to see how cute they look.

Break up a extra candy bar and melt in the microwave.

Spread a little chocolate across the flat side of the candy bar.

Immediately add the fondant names to the chocolate.

Next, add the turkey to the name, by moistening the back of the turkey.

To make the place card stand up, I used gumdrops.  They were a little too tall, so I cut the top off.

Add a little bit of chocolate frosting or melted candy bar and stick the gumdrop to the back of the candy bar.

Turn the place cards over and let dry.

When it’s time, trot those turkeys on over to your Thanksgiving table!
