Why bother frosting the entire cake when you can make easy naked cakes with frosting just in between the cake layers?
Naked cakes are all the rage right now and it’s no wonder. They are super easy to make and look just as impressive as a cake covered in frosting.
The first time I made one of these cakes was with a friend for her niece’s wedding. Years before that we had decorated an elaborate cake for her other niece’s wedding and it took us days.
The naked cake took hours and the bride loved it.
Recently, I’ve been asked to create more of these simple cakes for Tablespoon.com
I love the look of this chocolate cake with lavender frosting. Not only is this cake colored lavender but it is flavored with lavender lemon simple syrup, as well.
You can see the recipe for this Easy Naked Chocolate Cake filled with Lavender Frosting at Tablespoon.com.
Or, take a look at the recipe to create a Pink Velvet Cake filled with Pink Champagne Buttercream.
The bright pink cake is layered with buttercream frosting that is full of bubbly pink champagne.
Imagine all the color and flavor combinations you could create with a simple layered cake.
These cakes would be the perfect cake for me, as I don’t want too much frosting. Plus the fact they are so pretty makes me want them even more!
I like a lot of frosting, but felt the thick layers in between were plenty for my tastes. I just love how easy they are to make.
