What better treat to make for any occasion than caramel apples! These Pot of Gold Caramel Apples are the perfect dessert to make with your kids for St. Patrick’s Day, and who wouldn’t want a pot of gold?!
I had not planned to make another St. Patrick’s Day recipe, but this week quite a few people have featured my Oreo Truffle Pot of Gold recipe on their sites, and it got me thinking about how a big black pot filled with shiny gold coins isn’t all that different than a witch’s cauldron filled with bubbling brew, and I created one out of a caramel apple last Halloween.
Both the Sweet Pot of Gold and the Chocolate Caramel Apple Cauldron could easily be swapped out for one another by changing how the black pot is filled. If you have my cookbook, Hungry Halloween, you will also have a recipe for a savory version of a cauldron/pot you can use.
To make my Pot of Gold Caramel Apple, I added a modeling chocolate rim to a chocolate dipped caramel apple then cut out small circles from some white modeling chocolate using a small round fondant cutter. To add shimmer, I dusted the circles with gold luster dust, and set them in my pot.
I didn’t take any step-by-step pictures as I thought it would be easy enough to follow the directions in the previous posts if you’d like to make your own pot of gold caramel apples. Just click here for the directions on how to make the chocolate dipped caramel apple pot/cauldron, then look here for directions on creating gold coins out of modeling chocolate. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I know I’m early, but I’m moving on to spring and Easter goodies, so I thought I’d send good wishes to you now. May the luck of the Irish always be with you. I have three more exciting giveaways coming up, so stay tuned for your chance to win.
