Orange Royal Icing Recipe
Cookie Cutter (You can use a heart shape and cut it in half, a tear drop shape or an oval)
Piping bag or Decorating Bottle
#2 Decorating Tip
2 Marshmallows for the eyes
black food coloring marker
2 Cups of Orange Sherbert
1 1/2 cup of Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 cup of Milk
1/2 cup of Orange Juice
1 teaspoon of Honey
Make the cookies the day before you want to make the smoothies so the icing on the cookies has time to dry.
- Start with a batch of sugar cookies and cut out the wing shapes. You can use different cookie cutters to make them. I used a tear drop cutter but you can use a heart cutter and cut it in half to make 2 wings.
- Once you cut out the shape, cut a notch in the wings like in the picture below. If you would like to see a tutorial on how to make them, click here.
- Next, bake the cookies and let them cool completely.

You can decorate the wings with a can of store bought frosting that has been tinted orange or you can make a batch of royal icing to use. You can also let the kids add candy or sprinkles to make the project really fun. We all know it isn’t a party until someone opens a jar of sprinkles! If you are looking for a tutorial on how to decorate a cookie with royal icing, then you need to see this video. It is easy to do once you know how.
The eyes are made with 2 marshmallows and a food safe marker.
Place your propeller on the glass with a glue dot or double sided tape. fill the glass with the orange smoothie, add the wings and the eyes and enjoy!
