I’m sure you know by now, on Sunday, you get to hear from me, Kim, The Partiologist. I really enjoy my visit to Hungry Happenings each week and try to come up with something new and exciting. I don’t know if you would call a tree exciting,
but a Tree of Love…now that’s exciting!… Tree of Love Cookies!
Thinking about a stamp I had seen at Michaels, I couldn’t go another day without it.
And you can too! So cute and quite simple.
This is the stamp I’m talking about – do you see what I see? I just knew it would be perfect for a tree of love cookie.
Use a paint brush (only used for food) to paint the food color on the back of the stamp.
I used Wilton black candy food color, make sure you use a paste type of food color.
Use a plaque shaped cookie cutter that would be the perfect size to capture the large heart.
Roll and baked your sugar cookies.
Mix up a batch of white royal icing.
Outline the edge of the cookie and then flood the center.
Let the cookies completely dry, maybe even overnight. If they’re not completely dry, when you press the stamp on the cookie, well, that’s the way the cookie crumbles!
Paint the back of the stamp with the black food coloring and then gently press the stamp on the cookie.
This type of rubber stamp allows you to press gently.
Once the cookie is stamped, mix up red royal icing.
You don’t even need a decorating tip, just a bag, cut off the tip of the bag.
Fill in the center where the heart is on the cookie with red icing.
Now, your tree has a red puffy heart!
You probably didn’t know this, a tree of love grows hearts instead of leaves.
Don’t you love it when that happens?
If you want your tree to grow hearts, just find a little heart cutter.
You know the drill, make, bake and decorate!
