Hi all, it’s Kim The Partiologist, wishing you a Happy New Year! Are you ready to celebrate? Yes, I know, sometimes it’s hard to start planning another Holiday celebration right after Christmas. I’m not quite sure how I’ll be ringing in the New Year, although, I do see New Year’s Confetti Cupcakes in my future.
In case you are planning to ring in the new year, I want to show you how to turn a little white cupcake into a CONFETTI CUPCAKE with a PARTY HORN!
And the party horns are made from fondant, along with all the confetti. Let’s get started…
Use your favorite white cupcake recipe or any white cake mix and get ready to bake up your cupcakes.
After everything is mixed, add 1/4 cup sprinkles to the batter.
Pour into individual cupcake papers and bake according to directions.
While the cupcakes are cooling (or even the day before you bake) make the toppers.
Let’s start with the party horns.
Press a long rope of white fondant from a clay extruder.
Cut into 3 3/4″ strips.
Roll 3″ of the strip flat.
Cut several strips out of colored fondant, using a No. 2 strip cutter.
Place a strip of fondant at a diagonal down the flat piece of the fondant.
Trim the edges of the colored fondant off the sides.
Next, cut a rectangle out of the same color fondant.
Place under the round end of the party horn and wrap around. Seal with a bit of water.
Begin rolling up the party horn.
After the horns are rolled up, turn them on their side to dry.
Roll another piece of fondant (using all the colors of the sprinkles)
Cut the fondant using the No. 2 strip cutter horizontally and then using a herb mincer vertically
Let the pieces of confetti dry and then mix together.
Sprinkle on each cupcake before topping with the party horn.
Check to make sure it’s yummy. Oh and don’t forget to make New Year Resolutions you can keep. Like, only eat two cupcakes instead of three.
And if you’re running out of time but still want to have fun confetti cupcakes, I’ve got you covered.
Using the same sprinkles that you poured in the mix, just add them to the top of the frosting. Now the cupcakes are ready to party, how about you?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
