While walking around Michaels aimlessly, I ran across a little bag full of Googly eyed ring favors. Right then and there, I knew what I had to do…buy them and make them into something edible and cute.
Here I am, back with another edible creation. Have you noticed all the cute Googly eyed creatures Beth has been making for Hungry Happenings? I sure have, and now whenever I see Googly eyes, I want to turn it into something edible. That’s pretty much how these cake pops were born.
Besides finding the little Googly eyed party favors, I found plastic cake pop sticks and gingham ribbon.
After baking and cooling your cake, break it apart and put into Cuisinart and pulse until combined.
I like to have the cake balls all the same size, so most of the time I use the ball shape mold from My Little Cupcake.
After you’ve made the balls, dip the end of a cake pop stick in a dab of black candy melts and insert into the cake ball. This way the stick stays in place.
Next, push the Googly eyes into the top of the cake pop, making an indentation. Remove the Googly eyes and set aside.
Using the grass tip #233, fill a pastry bag with buttercream frosting and start from the bottom all around your cake pop until they are completely covered in “fur”.
Once the cake pop is covered with black frosting “fur” stick the bottom of the Googly eyes into the black candy melts and place in the top of the cake pop. Pipe a little more black icing “fur” in between the eyes. Now they’re looking right back at ya~
All eyes are on you!
Thanks for Looking!
