Have you ever been in New Orleans during Mardi Gras?
I think it would be fun, but I have yet to even visit New Orleans. It was on our list of places to go this year, but got knocked out of the running when we decided to visit Las Vegas instead. I hope one year to go enjoy a carnival celebration, but for now I’ll just have to settle for making fun food for the occasion.
As a kid I did indulge on Fat Tuesday, known as Mari Gras in French, by eating whatever I was planning to give up during lent. It was a big deal to go for a month without my favorite treat, so pigging out the day before the deprivation began was a must.
A few years ago I created some festive food in keeping with a traditional New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebration that I thought I’d share today along with some other fun edible crafts from around the web.
