Having my parents back in town means more social functions for me. My mom loves to entertain, much more than any of my friends do, and you know me, I love a good party. So, last week my mom gathered some friends together for a game night.
I took the opportunity to actually make food for a real function and it was great. So much of what I make these days gets fed to my neighbors, because I don’t always make it for an actual party. It was nice for a change, to make several game night appetizers and desserts to share at the party.
There will be more game night edible craft ideas to come, but today I’m going to start by showing you how to turn a simple dip in to a dice. The entire thing took me less than 15 minutes to make, and it looked so cool served on a game board along with some crackers.
This dip would make a great addition to a Bunco party or a casino night event, as well.
1 small round cookie cutter (the size will depend on the size of your square dish)
Spread dip into square dish. I chose to use 5 dots, but you can do any number you’d like for your dice dip, just be sure to create your dots in the correct dice position. Press your small round cookie cutter into the dip, use a small spoon to scoop out some of the dip from inside the circle. This will create a well.
Clean the round cookie cutter. Then set it back over one well. Sprinkle in black sesame seeds or poppy seeds, filling in the area just to the top edge of the dip. Carefully remove the round cutter. If you over-fill them then the seeds will spill out.
Wipe your round cutter clean and repeat for the remaining wells.
Cover and refrigerate until needed. If your recipe, like my chicken dip recipe, requires it, heat just before serving.
